I just redid 2 old Fenwick Ferralite bait casting rods and
used a product from Sherwin Williams called Sunnyside
Sunstrip DL . I put some on an ultra fine Scotch Pad
and the varnish disappeared with no harm to glass.
You might want to give that a shot.

I am rebuilding 2 old Ferrulite Fenwick rods, one with Carboly guides, keeping on (schmutz cleaned by a Jeweler),
the other with ceramic guides at owners request. Both have Hook Keepers on Right side of rod.

You for sure not remember me, but we have met a couple times
at Merrick shows in the past and were kidding about me using
A and and you using rope. I have a couple of partial spools
of 9358. If you need it to finish a rod, I will be happy send you one
and keep one for me for repairs. My E-Mail is bobm0400@optimum.

I buy mine from Merrick Tackle, he has a very good inventory.
From what Billy Vivona indicated, its phone only until the Catskills
can repair Irenes damage.

You might want to try Scot at Merrick Tackle. They have been in the Salt Water supply
business forever They are a listed on the left, however their website does not list all
they have. Call them on the phone to be sure - they go back a long time and still remembers where any obscure part are. If you have a problem
dealing with them, contact me by E-Mail @ bobm0400 @optimum.net or my cel

Check with the person building your box. He may be using the fan to help maintain
an even temp. You don't want to go to high. With his design it may be needed to keep
an even 70 or so.

I bought a Wonder Weaver from Merrick and also ordered some Doc Ski patterns from them.
They did not have many in stock so I took what I needed from what was there. Some of them
must have been around for a while as they are hand written and carry Holland Thread numbers
with no colors indicated next to them. One pattern was printed and had gudebrod numbers and colors.
If anyone out there

Every rod that comes in with cork gets a quick shot of 91% Isopropyl alcohol applied by paper towel.
Quick, cheap and effective. I see a lot of fly rods where the rod grip is in hand all day and they
clean up with at the most 3 applications. No chemicals or scrubbing or rinse, just let it evaporate.

Anglers Workshop Tubes are very classy, well made tubes.
For a label I'd try Decal Connection.
Both are Sponsors listed on left

You are only 18 years older than me, but I can not tell you how much I have learned from you, Dale Clemons and Dick French and the other guys that contributed to Rod Crafters over the years. The word THANKS is not enough. I was reluctant to try Chinese blanks until I read your post.

Go to the NERBS logo on the left hand side of your screen for advise on your problem. Billy is IMHO the most knowledgeable person when it comes to your type of fishing. Indeed, if I had a question like yours I would ask him. At the last NERBS meeting I attended (at his shop) we tested a party boat rod he designed in conjunction with Seeker. We high sticked it time and again with more weight

St Croix just adapted this on their new surf rod. I asked the rep why and he replied as above - because of braid bunching. He also mentioned that this configuration was not good with mono, therefore you are restricted to braid only with this. He also said that in their test the gain in distance, with braid, was very noticeable.

There is no supplier on this planet that is more reliable than Bob. It matters not if you order a spool of thread or a truckload of supplies, this gentleman takes very good care of you. There has to be a problem on your end. Try something reliable like the phone.

I believe they use a Dayton motor on these . W.W. Grainger is the distributor for these, who are nation wide. You should be able to locate one through them. Good Luck

Dollar for dollar Tica is unbeatable. I now fish a Taurus 400, a Taurus 500 and a Van Staal 150. I have tried and had bad problems with both Shimano and Diawa in the past, and have had no troubles with either Tica or Van Staal, but bear in mind you can buy 4 Taurus for one Van Staal. If you need a large capacity and more weight to balance your rod, I would give serious thought to a 6000 Tourus

Never built one, never saw one, but want to go steelhead fishing in great lakes tribs. I have bought a couple of blanks, an all star 10 ft., and a St Croix 10 ft and am confused as to what style guides, reel seat spacing, etc to use. Any help on this would be appreciated. I have looked and looked for information and have come up with nothing useful. The books by trhis Nagy fellow talk abou

Try the RX8+. I have built a few and had better casters than I try them. On the 9 wt all got into backing without realizing it. It also worked very well with an 8wt line, but did not like a 10wt. at all. Quality wise it is surpassed by none, and is made in the USA, a plus in my book. If you have questions about their products call Batson directly and you WILL get honest, helpful advise, not
