Brian I have some 6’10” Castaways that I bought for a high school team, unfortunately right after I got the blanks the team disbanded and I haven’t done anything with them.

There are no issues with wear! My builds are all bass and inshore so I cannot attest to heavy saltwater use. It is the only thing I will build with. In speaking with the individual who developed them wear has not been an issue!

Spencer’s right on point with his recommendation guys who like graphite can use the revcb70 or 76 MH. It’s surprising how hard those little baits pull.

Jay,
If you are going to fish this rod heavily you will most likely begin to see wear after about two seasons of use. I have a couple out with tournament guys who had significant wear after a single season of use. They brought them back back and I replaced with cork for one user and the other chose carbon.

Michael, the consistency is close to high build Threadmaster yet I found that it leveled even better than the Threadmaster.
Mark, yes it may well be hard to award “the best “ however I am pretty sure I have tried every finish out there currently (and a few that are now defunct).. It provided for me the the best overall performance of all that I’ve used to date. Please understand I gain nothing

I can tell you I have been lucky enough to have received a sample to try. I am “that guy” who mixes his finish to a cake batter consistency with a round wooden stick. This is without doubt the finest finish I have tried. I am a LONG time user of Threadmaster and I have found my new epoxy. Gen4 has every aspect I love about Threadmaster with unprecedented bubble release. It levels incredibly well

Jason, if you look into the M&M’s you will find a ton of info specifically testing Steve Gardner did regarding a pitching rod. Although big companies have said there is no gain Steve’s tests indicated otherwise. If you do not use any knots (leaders) go as small as you can with the runners (like 3mm or even 2.5mm)

Must be using pro wrap, my suggestion is decorate the Christmas tree with it, throw out whatever remains and go with a better metallic thread. Seriously though Pro Wrap and I just don’t get along well and I changed brands and solved my problem. Rogers suggestion is a good one, I do like their colors but for me I don’t care for it’s handling characteristics.

I was pleased to receive a very quick email from them after inquiring about an order and the availability of other specific blanks. Was a much better experience than most of what I have had in the past for sure.

Alex’s, what are you real world expected ship times? I am at 6 weeks on my last order. I love your stuff but these will be built for customers wanting them for the holidays. Can you guarantee a two week ship time?

Benji, thanks for the suggestion, I did look at that one and I think it’s gonna be too light. My jigs are 1/2 oz without trailer and probably over 3/4 with the trailer.

Good evening all,
I am looking to build a new skipping rod for myself. I would like it to be 6’9” or 6’10” as the subject eludes to. This will be used for docs on Lake of the Ozarks. It will be a casting rod and needs to be a mh at a minimum, I am considering cutting 3 inches from a mb709
HM from Northfork any suggestions?
Thanks

4mm is the smallest you will find in a tip top with a 5 tube. I love those #2’s. They are perfect for me, especially drop shot rods and other finesse stuff or rods using braid up to 30. I have very successfully used them on casting rods using 12lb test, if I am using anything over 12 I will use, 2.5’s and 3’s. I personally don’t like to use anything bigger than 4’s.

David, yes it was the guides that I had on hand ( still in their labeled packages respectively) that were causing the confusion

That’s good news, the KW are way to heavy for my style of builds.

Ok after more comparisons I believe I was sent the wrong guide. I had ordered a single guide from two different sponsors a while back. They are labeled with the same numbers but are worlds apart. I believe the guide I ordered from Get Bit is correct, yet the one I got from Mudhole is a 6 I have never seen before. Just trying to shed light as to why I am so confused about these. I am not griping a
