Ben, I am not sure where you read or saw these are “snagging rigs”, the only place I have ever “snagged” a fish with one is in its lip like every other bass lure. Many states allow them! Yours may not so check you local regulations. But please don’t falsely label them. Tom

There are a couple of schools of thought with the Rigs, some guys like to have a rod with a soft tip( similar to a crank rod), if you are throwing smaller rigs ( flash mob jr style) I would go with a Northfork BB805 . On the other hand you have guys who want a very solid stick, in that case I have used a few, I went with a Northfork Delta SW764 and SW765, if you would like even more power for the

David, my mistake I was referring to the spinning rod, the ETES. I really wish I had picked up more of the series when they were available. I carry three of the eternity 2’s every time I launch the boat.

David, I am experienced with the ETEC blank as well ( I built as a dropshot spinning rod). The 610mxf St Croix has a whole lot more power for sure!! Even the mlxf st Croix will have more power than that Eternity. Please don’t misunderstand me, I am not knocking the Eternity by any means, if it wasn’t the best for my style of fishing I wouldn’t have one in my arsenal!! Tom

Generation 4, the newest rod finish to come out on the market in years. XAR means Extreme Air Release. This new rod finish being developed will be the end of all air bubble issues that give many rod builders the biggest problems. Mix like any other finish then pour onto foil and you can virtually watch the bubbles release. After mixing gently for about 3 minutes, there were about 8 or so bubbles

Jay, yes it is available and look back at I’m my posts. I did a short review on it. I absolutely love the stuff, no bubbles, great clarity, doesn’t seem to crawl up the guide foot. I am very impressed with it.

The only blank I’ve found a close match was the Shikari. I have been meaning to pick up a few of these from Northfork, love them for crappie, smallmouth and even the slight bit of trout I do.

Phil I have no need to come down there. I was stationed in S.C. for a decade and spent plenty of time in FL...... salt guys and some inshore, there is a slight possibility your statement may be remotely accurate however you have forgotten the rest of the angling world. Peek out from under your rock and take a look, it may surprise ya

Mr. Ewanicki, I gladly invite you to come spend a day riding along on my next outing. You will see that your claim of 75% of rods spend their time in holders is vastly WRONG! My boat doesn’t even have a “holder”. I have hundreds of builds and not ONE has ever seen a holder....... please at least state something is your opinion and not present as fact.

I had many great memories at “the damn” it’s truly a shame they removed “the damn” from the river a number of years back. A very special place in my life for sure!! Their grandson still carries on the Sonnies name and is still active in the craft. Tom

Spencer I completely agree, Rich created the original design and although I use many of the commercial grips I sure wish they would make a 2 1/2” rear carbon grip. I have many early grips cork grips based off of Rich’s design prior to Andy introducing carbon grips and much prefer them over these longer grips available currently. Yes I know I can make my own, but I guess I am getting lazy.

That is a Abu Garcia Veritas. LOVE those things, they make me more money than any other out there!!!! They have the worst failure rate of guides that I have come across. The real seat is their proprietary design. If you have the capability of turning a handle turn one up and mount it from the rear. ( these rods are 49.00 wholesale, not top tier by any means). You can easily order a split Eva pie

The castaways are built in the same manner as the rain shadow. Daiwa used to make the type you are looking for as a complete rod but I have no idea if they still do.
