David, the SJ is a much more powerful blank iMO it to me makes a fine all around stick. I use one for heavy shakey heads, light 4” open hook swimbaits, small to medium jigs and lighter Texas rigs.

Buy a second and strip it. Once rebuilt revel in the fact how bad factory rods suck!

Last I knew it was available from Bingham Enterprises, if Karen does not have it she should be able to point you in the direction of where to get it

Justin, Well I just got off the water and the swim jig is where it was at for today. I had 9 bites and never missed one. The largest was a 6.76 and just for giggles I boat flipped it to see how the blank would take it. It handled it with ease. I am pleased so far. I have a tournament tomorrow and a state qualifier next weekend so I won’t be doing more “testing “ for a couple weeks. Tom

Jeffery, Would a new 202 work better for ya? I am a Zebco distributor and may be able to help you out. I unfortunately don’t have access to parts

Not even close to being lighter than carbon, but it is greatly reduced once it has been arbored

After 20 years in the Marine Corps I have earned every right I will ever need, including the one to tell people what’s on my mind! I don’t need to be old and rely upon that excuse to get me by. It’s one thing to ask a question and be sincere in your interest, however; when you continually ask the same redundant questions over and over it tends to annoy people who have an interest.

Phil why do you always ask the same question? It must be terrible to be so bored that you feel you must toy with everyone. It’s overwhelmingly annoying!!

10” Ryobi chopsaw with finetooth blade. I have v blocks I set the blank in to stabilize while cutting and tape over are to be cut. Go slow and wear a mask to keep from breathing graphite dust. I only cut from the butt of the blank and have not used this to cut from tip side

Keith, Are you sure you want one rod for both techniques? Generally a shakey head rod has more power than a drop shot stick.

Herb I find Gen 4 almost the exact same as Threadmaster. Glen you will not need heat to eliminate the bubbles, it has the best release I’ve experienced

I have used it and didn’t care for it. Just seemed too soft once fully cured. I went back to regular Threadmaster but now use Gen 4

Phil, How do you determine how “powerful “ a rod is? Is it the soulful, smooth bend you see ?

Jay, it was a pretty clean build for a production rod with decent components. I don’t care the the style handles that they use however if they are indeed the Northfork blanks then the price your paying really isnt too bad (as long as you can tolerate Eva)

Got a chance to hold an Alpha Angler chatterbait rod today. The owner didn’t have time for me to compare but I would swear it was a Northfork NEO cut to 7’2”. Anyone have any insight on that?
