So ill do a build with them for her.. I expect to have to change everything around eventually on it anyway.. Shes never happy with a setup for long.. Works for me lol keeps me busy, keeps her happy.. Thanks for the response thoug

Haha.. You have no idea.. Simply out, first fish was caught with my grandfather.. Most serious and to this day still, the best angler ive ever had the opportunity to fish with, let alone learn the ins and outs... When you grow up with someone like that as your father... Shes quite good herself... My brother and i spend as much time as physically possible on the water... Everyday.. And mom

Conveniently enough, my mother of all people wants a rod for the creeks.. She said she wants me to use winn grips, the grips not the tape, so we can see how they play out.. What are the odds.. So the question is can you marble winn grips? Shes an artist and wants to play! Lol We are going tk pick up marble magic from mudhole (I think thats what its called) can you marble winn grips? We

With a spinner i can tell by the weight of the line, or the slight osilation of the tip if the blade stops turning... But i do agree.. With proper sensitivly you can almost map the river bottom by what you feel.. Id hate to loose that by a grip choice...

Ha.. Well worded.. I have to agree with you to some extent with bass.. Fortunately the build in question isnt for bass, its for skitish brookies in small streams.. When it comes to bass fishing i usually get a fairly agressive take, not saying i havent gotten a incredible take or 2 when trout fishing.. But its usually such a gently tap you think your bait tapped a rock.. Sensitivity is a mu

I second norm's advice.. Being on glass you dont have to worry so much about flexibility as with a fishing rod.. im not so sure how permagloss will be in terms of food safe.. Being a drinking glass.. Its durability is top notch though.. If you do opt for permagloss, Apply it with a tooth pick.. It will give a much thicker build off the bat, still verry thin, but a higher build then The u

I carry a bond arms derrenger, it takes .45 long colt or 2 1/2" 410 shells.. Accurate to 24 ft. I started carrying tht after i crossed paths with a mama bear and 2 cubs.. Canal on one side, river on the other... Someone was looking out for me that night, the train went by and blew its horn.. Scared them in the other direction... Its a belittling feeling when 2 eyes about 10" apart go fr

I knkw the paper towel example was a poor comparison, but its all i had at the moment lol Thanks norm, as always you are the man.. My client is looking for a ultralight, and a bass rig.. So ill express my concerns. About weight.. Probably go CF like originally planned.. Im going to pick up some winn tape with my next supply run.. Your right that it wont break the bank.. I just dont have mu

I should have worded that diffrently.. Not feel, but impact... i can see how adding a thick polymer wouldnt affect feel as much.. Hmm... This is a hard explination of thought to constrew through words.. Alright.. At work we use brass hammers to make gears true to the thousands.. Like a 4" thick 56" round gear running true to about .004.. Thats alot of shock on your wrist with a crappy h

Holy crap... I didnt think i would have started such a controversial thread.. Ive been out of service since i posted the original thread... And will be again in 10 minutes... My phone exploded with email alerts lol I am talking abut the grips, not the tape.. I have a customer who is interested in them but Not sure.. And if he dosnt like them i dont want to be stuck with, and not like t

As the subject states.... Can anyone sell me on using these? Ive never built a rod with them.. Ive gone to a store and held a rod with them, i personally prefer cork... If anything, it seems other mediums allow for a significant advantage on customizability.. It seems with winn grips, it is what it is.. And im not a fan of hkw they litter thier logo all over the place.. Can you shape winn? What m

I changed my mind.. I had written a post that took about a half hour to type out... Im gonna pass on this thread... Not all of us are "cavemen" i dont use facebook either.. My social network is right here... On this forum.. I applaud anyone who promotes builders in any media, i wish i could check it out, but facebook kind of insists you join every 2 sec. And thats not for me..

Travis, ive wondered that myself... And came to the conclusion that its just a suggestion.. If im wrong, heck... Id like to know myself... Haveing a somewhat understanding of the CCS system, lure weights are also a rounded suggestion.. Would look a little odd seeing 37/64... So they simply put 1/2

To be honest it looks alot like a finger print... Not trying to say that's what it is for sure.. But it is definatly a surface blemish.. Notice how the light is distorted across the one spot.. After it cures, take a micro fiber cloth and try buffing the area...

Just be careful.. Dont get into the graphite.. As for the cork, use the remains as a arbor, reem the new cork to seat onto the old.. If your not going to be covering that area back up completely, 320, 600, 2000 grit wet sand.. Gently... Again., dont get into the graphite.. Pick up some permagloss.. Ask us about application before going to town, theres a trick to it as it sets up fast... I wet san

I think this goes with the "Magic Wand" theory.. Build is as you really want it to be.. Dont skimp thinking it will hinder sensitivity.. Sure, on a nominal scale it might.. But magic wands compensate for the loss.. ;) Minimalism is fine, and nothing surprises me more then picking up a rod thats lighter then it looks, sometimes the wraps can acually make the rod feel lighter.. Little late on the chime in, but figured i would add my 2 cents here for readers of the future... To add to the rubber band method, i bend a paper clip and attach it to the tip, then place the rubber band on the clip.. Works as a buffer incase you get to close to the rubber band.. I dont acually use a rubber band though... Im a long hair.. So i use my hair tie lol On the topic of why do th

I got the sample from hitena, and although im not crazy experienced, i agree that jts a nice epoxy to work with.. I ended up buying some as i prefer it over others ive used.. I used a brush since the start of my obsession.. One day i didnt feel like reaching.. Decided to just use the mixing stick.. Ill never usr a brush again! Atleast with hitena, applying with a spatula (i use a coffee stiring s

Acually, not rod building.. But an example of how binding tention comes into play is in fly tying.. Again im plagued with being a lefty.. So i tie flies the opposing direction.. That means i have to stop once in awhile and spin my bodkin otherwise my thread will twist so bad i cant catch feathers properly, or whip finish without having a twisted nightmare of balled thread to try and pull under th

No no no... I took it exactly as you ment it to come across.. Lol you acually braught a smile on a crappy day of work.. I guess the better way to ask what i mean is when you pull your tag end through your wraps, has there been any form of study on what acually has more gripping force? 45, or 90.. At a 45° angle you achieve more surface area causing more friction, however do to the twist that
