I've added a column for IP Grams and AA. Only populated the Point Blank so far, but I'll be working on it. Feel free to post any info you want added in here.

Looking for some clarification on where to put the stripping guide on my 9' 8 weight. I've currently got it 36" from the end of the reel seat (not the end of the fighting butt), which is 76" from the tip top. Is that good? I can reach it just fine with my non casting hand. ETA: The guide in question is a Fuji KW 16, and the reel will have a 4.25" arbor.

I've been working on this for a little while in Excel, finally feel like I've gotten to a point where I can share it. I've created a database, accessible online, that has the following fields: Brand, Item Number, Application/Suggested Use, Length, Length (in), Power, Action, Pieces, Line Weight, Lower Lure Weight, Upper Lure Weight, Butt (in), Tip size, Wt, and discontinued (They were availab

Herb Landenheim gave me the following REC Spinning Guide heights in this thread REC Spinning #16 - 25mm #12 - 22mm #10 - 18mm #8 (in case you ever need it) - 13mm Fuji KL-H 16 - 43.3 12 - 31.8 10 - 30.2 8 - 27.0 As you can see, they are not even close to the same height, so you can't use them in the same size and do the KR Concept. As already mentioned, Pac Bay Minima is a

For the experts out there, what are you using to write on the blanks? I've tried the Pilot Metallic X-Fine pens that Mudhole sells with pretty disappointing results. Put a layer of epoxy, let it dry, scuffed up the area I wanted to write on, and on the several attempts I've made I decided I was better off just wiping it away.

I would build it using the KR Concept, but use Pac Bay Minima guides instead. If you want to use Fuji, you can do all KTs or throw two KBs in there; dealer's choice. I think if you built two rods, one with all KTs and one with two KBs, you would not be able to tell the difference in weight or performance.

From Angler's Resource "Fuji’s new KB solves an emerging problem; most micro running guides do not have the foot strength to stay put in the mid-section of rods due to large stresses in this area when under load. KB has an over-sized, beveled foot for excellent load characteristics even on heavy rods."

North Fork Composites FW 501-1(SM) seems like it fits the bill, 5' UL F. Rainshadow has a one and two piece version of a 5'4" UL F blank, REVS54UL-2SB and REVS54UL-SB.

I built a few ultralights with them. Minima Match Frame Spinning Guides Model M 16, 8, 5, then Minima Fly & Running Guides Model F size 3 to the size 3 tip top. Using a 1000 series spinning reel and 6 lb mono. Used the KR GPS to set it up.

I had a misunderstanding of what a soft tip meant. Plenty of options now, thanks guys!

See I thought XF was what most companies labeled as a dropshot rod, but I read a few people recommending a softer tip and saw a few videos on youtube recommending the same thing. Sometimes I feel like the more research I do, the less I know. Thank you Don. Open now to all medium light recommendations, not just Mod Fast.

In search of a medium light dropshot blank. From what I'm reading, I believe I want a Mod. Fast action. Do you guys have some favorites for dropshotting? All I'm really seeing are the Rainshadow inshore blanks and the Phenix Maxim.

I have built primarily on St. Croix and Rainshadow (Batson) blanks. I've been very happy with every Rainshadow rod I've built. My two favorite personal rods are a Revelation topwater rod and an Immortal plastics rod. Anything else I could say about them would be subjective, so I'll just say I don't think you'll be disappointed with the blanks.

I'm relatively inexperienced in the realm of bass fishing. I want to build myself a nice rod, primarily for Texas rigged plastics. Looking for something in the 6'6" to 7' area, medium heavy, fast to extra fast action. What are some of your favorite blanks for this? Don't want to go cheap, but I also don't want to pay a premium for very small improvements.

I'm no surf rod expert, but here in Texas they use the same tackle to catch reds and specs in the surf. The long rods and big reels is to handle the 5.5 to 8 oz weight plus bait that they are trying to sling out a long distance. If you aren't concerned about casting distance and you're using standard tackle (for, say, wade fishing the surf) there's no reason you couldn't use the same gear you w

Got a request for an OU rod. Looking at ProWrap ColorFast 343 Burgundy and 805 Cream. Would that work, or is there something else I should try? The official OU Crimson is Pantone 201 C, ProWrap Burgundy is 202 C. I can't tell the difference on the computer, but I still want opinions from anyone who has one. Thanks!
