Let me start this off by saying I have no idea what I'm doing building a fly rod, but I have done a significant amount of research and this is what I've come up with. I'm open to suggestions of any kind; I'm here to learn. I'm also not opposed to spending some money on this, but cheaper alternatives are always welcome. I want to build a fly rod primary for redfish here on the Texas coast. H

According to my CPA, and using the double entry accounting method, you should record the donations as an advertising expense and pay the excise tax. You also (at least in Texas) have to pay use tax on anything you didn't originally pay taxes on that you don't end up collecting sales tax on. So, here's how that would look. The tax is paid by the manufacturer, producer, or importer." There's an article in the library on this, but it's dated.

I've been researching and planning to buy a lathe for like a year now. Finally ready to pull the trigger ... I think. Does this look like a reasonable list of things I need? I've got a 1/4" x 18" mandrel already. Going to get the cork and stuff from Mudhole. Additions, subtractions, and recommendations welcome. *Turncrafter Commander 10 in. I was going to recommend that as well, the St. Croix 2SW76MF3 looks like a good choice. If you're looking for light, I would KR concept over NGC.

As always, thanks Norm. The customer wants cork on this one, so I think I'm just going to go with the 17. Jim sent me arbors for the VSS16 (which I really, really appreciated), but the ID of the seat and the OD of the blank were too close. Same blank this go round, so I was going to try the 16-15.

I find it odd that they don’t sell the arbors anywhere for the VSS16, and they don’t sell the grip anywhere for the VSS16-15. While I’m at it, why doesn’t mud hole sell the BGA95? Seems like every time I place an order lately, I have to make one at Mudhole and one at Get Bit

Took the advice on an earlier thread and decided to try out the Fuji VSS 16-15 instead of the VSS 16. I ordered the FGV16RC rear grip not really thinking about it, and it doesn't fit. Should I have ordered the Size 17 FGV grip? Or is there another grip that fits this thing? Thanks!

I got my dad a nice 7' UL spinning rod and Shimano 1000 reel last year for father's day. He had just bought a camp on a lake that's primarily white perch (or sac au lait, or crappie, whatever you would like to call them). He tried using it, but he didn't accurate with the spinning reel and felt the 7' rod was too long for getting under trees, etc. So, back to the Zebcos he went. On to my

Using the LV guide chart and trying to adapt this to the REC guides using a KR-ish layout, does this sound reasonable? 20lb braid reduction train 30, 20, 8 30lb braid reduction train 40, 20, 8 I was thinking 25 instead of 20 for the 30lb layout, but on the LV chart that's ~8mm taller.

Does anyone have guide heights for the Recoil guides? Specifically the spinning guides. Can't find it on google, Mudhole only publishes the OD, and the REC site is unavailable at the moment.

Someone can correct me if I'm wrong, but I think ProWrap ColorFast 446 Regal Blue and 325 Fire Red would work.
