yeah ya would think that pflueger size 30 would be a 3000 size but thats not the case. Their 30 size are more like daiwa 2000 size and shimano 2500. i do think pflueger offers a good bang for the buck tho

123. Re: gorilla glue
Like others have said gorilla has lots of different glues these days. the original polyurethane, the newer clear , PVA (wood glue) , SUPER glue and epoxy and more. ive used all of the above. The only one id even consider putting in a rod build would be their 2 part epoxy and it wouldnt be my first choice or even my second....maybe in a pinch for a quick repair.
The original polyurethane glue

124. Re: ZigZag guides
i 100% understand the concept you are describing. i just dont see this as being that concept. the guides appear to be offset much more than that. if the line zig zags back and forth from the top view, it will zig zag back and forth while sighting down that blank.
edit to add. the tip top and 1st running guide from the top appear to be offset in the manner you describe.

creating a perfectly straight line path? Really?
they offset so much to create a zig zag. purposely creating the exact opposite of a perfectly straight line path so that there are more points of constant contact and in their opinion, more sensitivity.
JDM rods always seem gimmicky to me, from the backwards wrapped stripper guide on the megabass (?) . to the slant bridge grips to the names

love those grips. looks great ....with natural cork being the way it is these days, ive basically substituted that medium brown burnt as my standard.
Ive made up a few checkerboard rings too but never used em on a grip yet. One of these days i wanna try an elliptical pattern on a full grip. Grip and handle making is by far my favorite part of rod building. thanks for sharing!!

I cut those by hand between straight razor, file, and sand paper. surprisingly not as time consuming as it sounds.

ive used those same batson forcast skeleton seats more often than the fuji for this setup. They have been my go to seats. I have ordered the cork inserts for them as well and ended up just cutting and using the tenons. Ive also turned my own which makes more sense and

David. thanks appreciate the compliments
yes glued, turned, and assembled by me. its was kind of an obsession to find that perfect spinning rod grip for myself. Something with a smooth transition from the hoods with everything flushed up and the right diameter for all day comfort ripping tubes outta snags for smallies lol. Both of those are size 17 skeleton seats. Only thing with it is

no ya glue a threaded barrel up against a reel seat insert to make a reel seat lol

ya can biy them for split reel seats where the blank is exposed or skeleton seats where ya turn your own insert between the hoods on spinning rods

136. Re: Top of rear grip
whats the exact seat your using? uplocking or downlocking?
sounds like your trying to plug off the top of the grip towards the reelseat, basically making it part of the grip then using the trim ring to transition to the reel seat. i dont see why it wouldnt work.

The Spinning blanks ive used from MHX dont have much backbone. Check out the MHX SJ781. its more inline with the MLF St Croixs.
what was the NFC model that ya liked?

i like to "pinch" the blank between pointer finger and thumb. i hold my spinning reels with the stem between my pinky and ring finger. So on my typical spinning build with a size 17 fuji dpsm seat ill use a 1/2- 3/4" foregrip turned down flush with the seats hood. I usually build split grips with the seats uplocking and always trim the threads on the back of the seat so no threa

Pavel mentioned he found the data on the cb701 blanks in "CCS public database". i know i couldnt find one other than the link on the left which is all fly blanks.
thanks

theres a CCS public database with non fly blanks?
Ive looked at the link to the left a time or two and only ever saw fly blanks listed.
TIA

Just a heads up the numbers from MattD from otterods are RDA not CCS. Its the same in the RDA database too:
CB701 IM 200 grams power and 62 degree tip angle
