Mick D, Im agreeing with ya on that. yes its a subjective description problem not a ccs value issue. And what your suggesting makes absolute sense cause i think we all do this in our heads already anyway. I know i always do. I see a blank at XXX IP and that number clicks in my brain as a ML, L, or whatever. same with action. i see that number and say to myself ok that blanks on the slow s

thx spencer great indepth description right there. yeah the ccs and the deflection charts didnt seem to add up to it being the same power as the 843. thought maybe i was missing something with the 705 being a remastered version. thx for confirming medium and a half sounds like a very versatile blank!!

if theres gonna be an IP range then it might be a good idea to add in the "mag" powers and an XH to close the gap on the number for each category.

spencer in your opinion, is the MB705 close to the old MB843? From CCS numbers ive seen posted and rodhouse deflection charts, the 705 looks to be a lighter powerd rod. TIA Matt

the loomis MBR843 has traditionally been considered a MH which is rated 1/4-3/4oz. 10-17lb The MHX MB843 has the same ratings. great all purpose bass blanks. Per NFC the MB705 is the remastered version of the loomis MB843

i thought there were a couple tackle shops along the jersey shore that carried blanks. names escape me at the moment but one i beleive was in or close to Seaside Nj and carried rodgeeks. IDK how much inventory they keep on hand and never made it over there when i was in the area.

El What type of seats. Talking spinning....Pipe style like Fuji dpsm and similar from other brands, ya can tell by the pipe O.D. with a set of calipers if it’s on a rod. If ya don’t have calipers , I recommend getting em. O.D. Should be listed on mud hole for Fuji dpsm. After a bit ya can tell at a glance.

I usually tape it just in case. Never used a circular saw or miter saw for trimming blanks, but I have used fine tooth hand saw. Rotating it as I cut. I bet a pipe/tubing cutter would work too but never tried it.

The trigger isn’t necessary IMO. I have multiple saltwater factory rods that I use as beaters or loaners that have pipe style (think Fuji DPSM) reel seats. I have shaved the trigger down to a “nub” on Fuji ECMS reel seats as well. I’ve seen other guys use pac bay minima spinning seats on finesse casting rods. they seemed happy with it and would also give the most blank exposed seat. Fuji ma

its hard to beat having a real lathe. not saying the other options wouldnt serve ya well but if your budget allows get a decent lathe. just get one that can accept the available mandrels without having to buy a bed extension. i have the Jet mini lathe and quickly found out most mandrels are too long. i did find one to fit but that was years ago. i dont think they are available anymore.
