I want to use a piece of brass tube (from Ace Hardware) of about 1" - 11/2" long and 0.5" ID over the blank in the front of the reel seat for looks. Have polished the tube to a gold mirror shine but in time gets dull. What can I do to maintain it shiny? If I apply thread epoxy on it would it keep it from dulling in color?

Thanks to all you guys for input. Will check today the O rings at a few places. The sewing belts did not work, too small for confort. I swapp the belt from wrapper to dryer and need elasticity. No screws in the way to knick the belt, have checked that a long time ago. Also have replaced the original black plastic pulley (if somebody wnts it, it can have it) on the motor shaft with an aluminum pul

I have an AmTac power wrapper/dryer and went through a few belts and still have none now. Due to dry weather in AZ, the rubber belt (cheap quality anyway) cracks and splits. Tired of using the same product. Is there any better quality belt from another application that fits the wrapper ?

Will give it a shot with the foam arbors. My fear is not to ream dead center and have the reel seat off center.

Never heard of the micro spheres but will check it out. What if I make my own graphite foam and fill in the gap? Is it hard to make it?

The foam arbor is impractical since the ID is 0.505 "(blank dia) and the OD is 0.695" (reel seat ID). That is a difference of 0.200" total, divided by 2 the wall is 0.100". Both ends of the reel seat (Alps aluminum) will be supported by flanges for 1/2" inside between the blank and the reel seat. The only space left is about 4 1/2" long and 0.100" that I have t

Since i have to use a lot of Rod Bond to fill in about 0.100" (2.5mm) betweeen the blank and the reel seat, I was wondering if I can mix graphite powder/granules in the Rod Bond to make it stronger and lighter. Good? Bad? Has anybody did that? Do not want to use shims or arbors to fill in the gap. Have done the same for other applications (not using Rod Bond and not for rods) and worked ver

Looking to get the StCroix blank 2C80XHF or 3C80HF but I was told that blank 2C76HF is stiffer than the other two. If you have them or worked with them and have knowledge about these blanks, please let me know (from experience, not specs) which one is stiffer. Thank you.

Thanks guys. I have looked at ALL the rod specs (except fly) and chose the two mentioned above. If you would chose, which brand(s) are lighter, straighter, more backbone (in raport with length and size) than the two mentioned above? Thanks.

I have a AmTac power wrapper with the white square pedal that gets VERY HOT (can not touch it) after about 2 hrs of use winding guides. Is this normal or is it broken? Do you have the same problem with yours?

I was hoping that the TLNSG guides are a bit thicker, more material in the fram compared to CLNAG fromes. I have used the CLNAG guides and seemed very thin, wire like.

I am looking to get the FUJI guides TLNSG (Ti + Sic) and have a question about them: - Are the TLNSG guides the same as CLNAG/BLNAG guides? Only talking about the frame hight, size, shape, thickness? A better question would be, do they use the same die press tool to cut TLNSG from Ti sheet one day, and the next day use SS sheet to cut the CLNAG guides? Very hard to tell from the ad pictures

Thank you guys for the info. I have always had those problems: - use the same ring size runners and top and the top as a whole looks smaller - a step down - than the rest of the guides or, - use the top a size larger than the runner guides (never tried this before) and hope to look good. When the guides and tops are designed and built, how come they don't see the problem and build something th

I am building a BC 8' rod with NLG guides 16 12 10 8 6 6 6 6 6+top and here is the problem. The tip of the rod is 7.5 and can not find any Sic tops 6-7.5 size. Is it OK to use a 7 size top and 6 size runner guides or should I replace the 6 size guides with 7 size? - don't really want to do it. Any ideas please? Thanks.

Needed to know (I got the answer on the other FORBIDEN forum) which one is stronger between them. Want to use it as rear handle with minimum support on the blank and was afraid not to breack it. Since the link was removed, a lot of present members will not be able to see the pictures. To by-pass "...the rules, links to other sites that feature advertising are not allowed", if anybody

Then, why don't YOU set this forum in such a way that pictures can be placed next to the topic and not in the BFE where people have a hard time finding them or knowing what is all about???

Does anubody know how those arbors are made? I need one arbor about 12" long and all I can find are 5.25". Don't want to put two together, is for a special project. I decided to try to make my own but need some info about the proccess involved. One way I see is to get graphite power and mix with epoxy but that would be kind of heavy. Any info please? Thanks in advance.
