I am working on a blank and had to scuff the butt to make a split grip. Now I would like to re-shine that portion of the blank like it was before and need some advice on the best method and epoxy to use. Thanks in advance.

Thank you for reply. I have used PacBay for a long time and still use, just wanted to post and make sure the quality of the products are the same as they used to be before.

You got a tolerance of 0.001-0.002"??? Mine is off by 1/16" Interesting that PacBay does not have a phone listed...Maybe they don't want to be bothered?...too many complaints? Is not the first time I had problems with my PacBay wrapper: - PacBay aluminum head stock with self centering chuck wabbles a lot, could not peel off an apple. Took it apart and fixed it. Now is 95% OK. - PacB

I got a PacBay power wrapper a while ago and it came with two bases, each 4ft long. Since 8ft (7ft) is not enough all the time, I recently got another 4ft base to extend the wrapper to 12ft (11ft working). The two original bases kind of fit together, there is still a tiny difference between them. The new base I got, came warped and did not fit smooth...in fact the thread carousel could not pass t

Soon I will start to build my SW boat rod on a Seker blank 50-80lbs with Fuji CHBNG Boat Guides. Have checked the guides footings and all are smooth like a baby's nose...Do I still need to lay underwraps on the blank and the guides on top of it? or can I go straight guides on the blank? This is the first SW boat rod and so far have never put underwraps on any rod I have built. Thanks.

Have never used the black guides from Fuji so far, only the SS silver. How does the black color holds on the rings in time? Have been shy to use them since if scratched they would look "used" a lot more than the silver ones. Do they scratch easily? Thank you for your help.

In proccess of building a new rod, this time specialy designed for West coast - San Diego area - for jetty and shore (not surf) and maybe pier fishing. What is the ideal length and power/action of the rod? I will build it as a baitcaster with a Daiwa Ryoga Bay Jigging reel and ALPS aluminum trigger reel seat and will be using mono line. Would this be OK? PHD928MH-B length: 9'2" line: 20

I have looked at a lot of blanks but can not find the ones that I need. Since most of the people here have more experience with blanks than me, I need your help please. I am looking for 100% graphite, about 8-9ft, butt 0.720-0.745, tip 6-7, heavy, fast. Please let me know if you have any info about those blanks. Thanks.

Blank is from Batron-Rainshadow model # IMB944 (info below). . ... Itemid=190 Is it a good blank? the only experience similar to it is the MHZ L905-MHX from Mud Hole. How do they compare? A lot of blanks are marked as heavy/fast but if you put them side by side there is difference between them. I want to built it as a flipper rod with a Daiwa Millionaire 103A reel. Any info is appreciated. T

This is what I found on Mud Hole for rod bond: U-40 Rod Bond Item N°: U409 Is this the one? It comes in jars not tubes. All the epoxy I have used so far it comes in plastic containers/tubes.

I have searched but no results found... Which glue/epoxy is best to use to glue reel seats, EVA and Hypalon handles for heavy use like SW rods? I need a glue that will not come loose under the reel seat in heavy use and is sleek to allow Hypalon to slide easy over thick butts. I will order it from Mud Hole. Thank you for info.

Thanks guys. I guess I was expecting too much, a slightly curved blank should be OK.

Have checked a few blanks from different co. and all are somewhat with bends, curves, humps, etc. Is there any co. that makes straight blanks? or all of them are in this way. Would like to find blanks that are straight on all axis.

Thanks for the info, did not know about the paint job. I have the Seeker CJB90F with black E-glass on top. Have looked at the sponsors on the left but had a hard time finding a flat black, 100% graphite blanks. Any guidance is appreciated. Thanks.

I have a few graphite blanks from a few co. and all are dark gray with wave ribbs (like a earthworm...) when in the sun. In stores I have seen rods (ready made) from Abu and Okuma that are IM-8 graphite but the rods are dull jet black in color, not dark gray. Can some body tell me the difference please and where I can find the black blanks? Thank you.

I have ordered a few things from Mud Hole and to my surprize, they came so fast. I got some guides, a MHX blank that I like a lot and a AmTac Power Wrapper with upgraded head stock. I took off the original head stock and will sell it since I don't needed. Mud Hole is so great to deal with. Thank you.

My surf/jetty/pier rod based on a Seeker CJB90F with aluminum Pac Bay reel seat, hypolon grips and Fuji guides has been finished for a while and in a month or so I will have the chance to use it on the West coast. Also I could build another rod on a Am Tac SW1088 graphite blank but not looking into that right now, a much further project. Need input and advice how good in real life application is

ALL of my Fuji BSVLG and SVLG have that sound and have never been istalled yet! On some of them you can see the glue betwwen the ring and the frame missing or cracked...Oh well, I guess I got the knock-off of the Chinese knock-off of the Japanese guides.

I finished my first rod on a Seeker CJB90F (cut down to 8'4") and not sure if I did a booboo...My reel's foot is at 15" from the very end of the rod. Is it OK like this or is it too close? Do I need to undo the butt and extend the rod by a few inches? It feels good in the hand but do I need a longer butt for spinn casting? Need your advice. Thanks.
