Had a gentleman come to me to build him a rod from a kit he had gotten for a gift . Had gotten the rod almost completed ,except for putting the epoxy on the thread . I had already put color preserver on the thread . The gentleman came back to see how I was coming along with the rod .I told him I only had to put the epoxy on the thread and it would be finished . Thanks Tom ! This sounds like a good plan to work with . The rod was a 7' heavy rod . The fellow cut 6" off the butt, for what reason ,I don't know and didn't bother to ask . So the weight is no factor here . So I think I'm all set to go with the wraps . Again thanks !!

Thanks for the replies, very much appreciated.... Since I'm building four rods ,I have decided to build two up ,two down and let the grandkids give me any feed back on the builds . But come to think about it ,they always reel them up to look like shepherds staffs anyway ,so I guess it won't make much difference ... LOL !!!
