Thank you, for that, Joe. You're company is a terrific leader in the custom rod building community. I for one, have used American Tackle components nearly exclusively and will continue to do so.

On a Happier Note, recently I happened into Roscoe, NY. Roscoe is home to the Catskill Fly Fishing Center and Museum. I was there during a conflagration of grass rod makers of over 150 in number were meeting. It was kinda like a mini ICRBE for bamboo rod builders! Joan Wulf even came in for a short talk... I'm currently on the road finding and fishing the top ten fly fishing streams in Ame

The reception was fun. Afterward, we sat in the hotel lobby with an impromptu group of about 25 rod builders talking. Most of the group were NERBS, a fun group. Alex, I'll see ya at the booth, ----------------------

Ken & Lana I just arrived at the Best Western Hotel about 3:30 p.m. . Our room view overlooks the front of the Conference center front door, cool. I can "spy" on my old friend going into the building. Good to be back in High Point

Many of you know I'm retired military and support most any military causes that come my way. Several years ago, a grass roots group in D.C. area started taking wounded military on fishing trips locally. I made and gave rods for them. Recently I became aware of Purple Heart Anglers. It is an organization in Northern California that takes wounded military people fishing. That costs money so they ra

Hey Al, If your unsure about what to do, I'd take Mr Batson's whole list as a terrific suggestion. Yep, I'd copy it, call him or e-mail him and say send it. You could do alot worse guessing and taking tips from others. From one Alton to another, you can't go wrong...

Russ, I'm John VanEmmerik's friend Dave. The Nevada Desert Dogs sure enough had loads of fun at the show. It was all and much more than we expected it to be. John and I along with our wives spent alot of time on the road to get to High Point but the drive was worth it. For those who don't know, we drove our pickups towing RV's from Reno and Carson City, Nevada. Both of us admit to having spent

The Nevada Desert Dogs are glad to be here in High Point for the first time. Yes, we drove all the way, towing RV trailers. Staying at the Oak Hollow Family campground. Thanks to Tom for recommending this nice park for us. John VanEmmerick and Dave Fuller didn't see the Swamplanders on the road, but that's a good thing, they weren't broke down. David A. Hi John, yeeeeoooouuuuch ! Cleaning up a silicone mess is tough. But, if you pay close attention to detail and cleanliness you'll get through this. Stripp off the threads and labeling of the affected area. Wash the area several times, 7 - or more, with new paper towels and 70% rubbing alchohol each and every time. After each application of alchohol, use another papertowel and wipe it cle

I would suggest you look at Mudhole Custom as they carry fine quality cork grips that have a nice wood end cap in many different wood colors to match or compliment the reelseat insert. The grips I'm speaking of , I believe are made for/by American Tackle. I use them and am very pleased with the results.

Tip No 1, Mudhole Tackle sells the tubing in two different sizes/diameters. Tip No 2, cut the tubing across about 1/8 inch thick. God Bless America

I believe YOUR load carrying capacity would be diminished if YOUR spine was laterally misplace 40 degrees. It is my determination that the spine of a rod is similar to the spine of our body. That is, it's more useful if it's on the top of the rod. It (our spine) holds us straight and helps us flex and when loaded carry the weight without folding in half. I hope you catch my analogy. It's al

I lived in England (Newbury, Berks) for three years, familiar with the VAT, but holy smokes ! 17.5 % ! ! ! Course our FET is on top of any state and local sales taxes added to the final price... I'm even tying the Diawl fly and learning about the Boobie fly. Ta !

When I make rods from these blanks, I use NCP Chestnut with NCP tan or Gold metallic for highlights AND gold SF wire guides, gold metal reelseat. They are a fine little blank.

Yes, I agree with you on the language, but we use the form regularly should also have the accompanying booklet. Presuming, one has a tax ID and has read the booklet he/she would know how to assign the FET to each sale. Furthermore on page 6 of the booklet of instructions the directions are clear but conveniently leaves out the 10% of 60% ruling. thanks for your insight

Yesterday I recieved the new Form 720 packet from IRS. Part II, pertaining to fishing etc, is broken down further into Sport fishing equipment, Fishing Rods and Fishing poles, then Fishing Tackle boxes. A note on line 110 (Fishing rods and Fishing poles is "(maximum tax of $10)". The form is easy to read, understand and calculate. So for you business people, take alook at the new

Bob Crook you're the champ ! ! ! That's exactly the photo I was looking for ! ! ! Why in the world I couldn't find it, I don't know. Thanks, so much ! Mike B, I tried the wood bits for drilling reelseat bores, couldn't get a true smooth hole. Is there a secret to getting the cork NOT to "chunk out".
