The "Community Rod"

First, let me say "thanks so much" to all who joined in on the "Community Rod", whether to wrap or sign it (or both - including the ":Legends" of our craft). I hope it was as much fun for you as it was for us!

John Emmerick from Carson City NV was #46. He said he heard the number at the reception but didn't remember it was his. He was way in the back, near the bar. Um, sure, John - - -

John and his friend were so gracious and patient, to wait till we were actually breaking down in order for the CP to dry enough so he could take it home. Of course, we ran out of time, but we plan to fix that next year. Meanwhile, Tim (Swifty) donated a Diamondite kit so John can finish the rod back home - how neat is that? And a very special thanks to Joe Douglas (Black Dog Tackle/RBI) for co-sponsoring the project with us. 2nd prize was a 1yr membership in RBI - quite a good gift in its own right.

I think this was a super start, and I surely hope we can do it again next year.

Again, thanks to everbody.

Russ, I'm John VanEmmerik's friend Dave.
The Nevada Desert Dogs sure enough had loads of fun at the show. It was all and much more than we expected it to be. John and I along with our wives spent alot of time on the road to get to High Point but the drive was worth it. For those who don't know, we drove our pickups towing RV's from Reno and Carson City, Nevada. Both of us admit to having spent more money than expected but getting great deals on everything we purchased.
John will get alot of use out of the Community Rod. The idea of a "community rod" is a great one and adds another aspect of fun to the "aura" of the show.

Good Wrappin !
