You go Billy boy, you're on your way to total RB insanity. In fact, you might have caught up and past many of the long termers here?
Becky will tell you I lost it many years ago, as evidenced when I, while mumbling incoherently put RodBond in my tea for "alittle flavor ".

Tom and others, thanks for the help.
I'll check my library of past copies see if I've got the #1 - 5 issue.
If others have an idea how to "self center" and hold secure for drilling the center of cork disks post your ideas here. The problem is 1/4 centers need to be 3/8 drilled for easier reaming, by hand.

About two years ago, one of you came up with a little jig you used to center cork disks on your drill press. It was a "self centering" gizmo. Sure would like to get the plans for that if it's still available.
I searched the photo center, but came up short, must be buried real deep.
Thank you in advance for your help.

All of my 7 wt's and above have ceramics, but to go against the grain of the above comments
I've found the American Tackle lineup to be the best for me and my company.

Steve, Mike, Ed, et al, it's is much more simple than you believe. The rod blank is NOT level in the dryer.
You have to or might do all that is mentioned above BUT if the blank is not LEVEL in the chuck's the liquid epoxy will twist with the torque of the spinning action in the dryer. You see, while the epoxy is in that "in-between" stage of liquid and solid if the rod is no

Josh,
Personally, I do it the other way. I use two arbors and fit them tightly inside either end of the reelseat. Push them up inside even with the inside shoulder of the reelseat. It may take alittle sanding to fit it snug. I use 100 or 120 grit paper layed flat on my work bench spinning the arbor alittle with each pass and fit to the seat with precision. Personally also, I use five m

Thanks again for all the advice and checking your personal stock piles.
I'm still searching, I'll be calling around. With luck someone will have a
VPS light 590-3 in a darkened corner of their shop.
note: I buy ONLY from sponsors of this board...
Best of regards,

Sage has discontinued their VPS and VPS light line up of blanks, however I have a customer that is VERY insistant that he get a SAGE 590-3 VPS light ! !
My normal supply chain, all of which are sponsors, doesn't have one on hand and, of course, can't get one from SAGE.
So if any of you, out there in RODBUILDING land, has one in stock, let me know...
Thank you so much for your help.

Use 7X tippet line from your favorite flyfishing store. See a pic of such on the cover of a recent RODMAKER magazine. I tried it and like it....

Maybe someone out there in "Insurance land", could shed some logic on this.
Could be part of the risk management theory they operate on.
I'm gonna follow this thread for my own risk management risky risk.

Bruce, if you hit the signature with a little (that's little with small "L") 15 seconds with a hair dryer it should be ready in a few minutes. Dry it, let cool, check it, finish it, you're good for the night.

I'd like to be the first to welcome the Shikari Rod company to this site. More so, I'd like to thank them for supporting our craft by this action of sponsorship.

Steve, I love those ATC blanks. To get to the heart of the matter, maybe measure the blank as close to the tip as possible. I still have at least one of all those in stock, will be glad to go measure if you give me the data and let you know.... Tell be what your measurement is and how far down the tip you took the data, I'll do the same then let you know...

50. Re: guide help
Hi Josh,
I wrap many spiral rods. The method I use to secure the guides to the blank prior to wrappin is with little bands of stretch tubing. I cut these from "surgical" tubing I buy from MudHole, there's two sizes, I buy both. The small size for tip sections, larger size stretches over the butt sections. Take the tubing, and cut little 1/8" cross sections using an anvil ty

If you haven't yet checked out California Tackles fly reel, the Patriot, do so. It's very a very hot seller for me as the price is right and it's made by the same company that makes the White River Classic.

Another nifty little device I use is a simple shaving brush. You know the type your grandfather used ! The bristles are soft, so they don't "friz" the thread and it doesn't leave behind any residue which most are worried about. Just becareful when you brush away the dust from the ferrel wraps that you don't brush toward the end and peel of your hard work ! ! !
Been using this

I really appreciate the main suppliers for my biz, all from the list on the left screen. I bought about 8 grand worth of stuff last year and had to wait for about 3 or 4 items on BO all year !
Nonetheless, until my business is stocking and shipping about a million dollars each year, I'm not gonna pass judgement on their business practices. What I WILL DO is focus on those business practi

Spray them with clear gloss urethane or varathane . $5.00 at the local hardware store.
Careful though, if spraying a glossy rod use the gloss, if on a matt rod use the satin finish. that way, If there is any overspray then it won't be toooooooo noticible. If you have Ken Prestons DVD he gives a great demo of just this step.....

You're a good man Eric Z ! ! ! !
if it doesn't help it surely doesn't hurt either, at least in this case.
Most of my customers don't let go of the line when they cast. They let it run over the slightly cupped fingers of their left hand. Therefore the "fuzzy logic" of spiral wrap for flyrods. Once again, and as you pointed out, the line come off the left hand and heads directly
