Seems that a lot of people are refinishing/finishing rod blanks these days.
I talked to a couple and described my blank painting method. SInce neither of them had heard of it, there's probably others that haven't either. This is not original to me, I read it somewhere on the Internet, moons ago, possibly on the wmi board.
The poster described a method they used to paint rod blanks in a factory

62. Favorite Silks
The local rod building shop steered me away from silk from my next rod, but in looking at sites like Golden Witch, it seems like if I want to make a truly fine rod, I need to switch over. It does seem like there are varying qualites of silk and the less fuzzy the easier they would be to work with. How do you guys feel about silk vs. nylon, and do you recommend specific brands?

This is for my own purpose. I would like to know which rod finish is the choice of custom rod builders. Is there really a difference in the different brands? Also which speed do you find best when spinning the rod? Primarily salt water rods. I am currently using LS Supreme and I am ready for a new batch so I thought I would get the professionals opinion. Thank you for any Input.

Hi Guys,
I have seen and heard some people on this board and others having problems with your finishes for one reason or another. I hear of people mixing brand names with the finish and color preservers and I wanted to know why?
So the reason for this post is not to put down any one brand, but to get some insight on what others are using out there.
I myself have been using Flex Coat Preserv

What's your favorite/easiest way to get the last bits of gunk/fingerprints off without hurting rod finish/finishes?

66. Epoxy finish
Over the Christmas holidays I was able to visit Tom's shop. He gave me two types of finishes to try, the Glass Coat and the LS Supreme. After using them both I have to say they're both very good.
I really like the forgiveness and long working time of the LS. It will be my favorite for fly and light spin rods from now on. The Glass Coat really shone on the larger saltwater rods. It sets fast,

Just curious, but if you were to start all over again(as a beginner) in rodbuilding, which products would you choose and why? With all the products on the market now and the constant improvements and refinements being made in materials, which epoxies, finishes, and tools have you found to be the best and easiest to use?Are there any that you wouldn't recommend or that you think aren't neccessary?

68. Thin finishes
I've been out of touch lately and did'nt know Clemens was closing-a shame, I bought a lot of great stuff from them over the years. I guess since I did't buy any thing in the past year or so I did'nt hear from them. Anyway, I liked their brand of rod finish ( I still have some )- a thin finish that is great for doing multiple coats. Does anyone have the same kind of two part finish thats the same

69. Epoxy finishes
Folks,
At the risk of starting a minor debate.... What is your favorite epoxy wrap finish and why? Underlying reason for the question is that I simply have "gotten in a rut" using the same finish for the past 5 or 6 years and may have missed out on any new products and their benefits/detracting characteristics. As a side-light I was really fond of a two part finish that was sold
