I've been out of touch lately and did'nt know Clemens was closing-a shame, I bought a lot of great stuff from them over the years. I guess since I did't buy any thing in the past year or so I did'nt hear from them. Anyway, I liked their brand of rod finish ( I still have some )- a thin finish that is great for doing multiple coats. Does anyone have the same kind of two part finish thats the same low viscosity and can be thinned even further?. How about color preserver ? I had great results with Brilliance. Re: Thin finishes

Mark - I prefer American Tackle's color preserver. It's very similary to Brilliance and has the same properties as far as diluting 50/50 or 70/30 for the first coat of color preserver. I have been using Classic Rod Coat for about 5 years and have been quite happy with it as it has a UV blocker in the mix which retards yellowing. Based on a post of about two weeks ago I think most people are about evenly split on ":staying with what you know" and moving toward either "LS" or Glass Coat for eplxy finishes and it seems that Trondak U-40 is the current "runaway favorite" for non epoxy finishes.... Having said that I'm sure you'll see lots more information in subsequent posts. Re: Thin finishes

I think Trondak U-40 offers several types of finishes. Their LS or Dura Gloss finishes are epoxies. Their Permagloss is a urethane finish. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
