Both reels turned to the bottom. Like you said, maybe not enough weight. Will try again when I get back home.

What size of guides are you prepping? I have found that on the 3 and 4's you dont need to prep the feet.

Just finished building the spiral wrap rod device as shown in RRM. I seen the one that Tom built at the Big Show several times. When I applied weight to both rod ( one spiraled and one not), both turned to the bottom. My confusion is that the spiral wrapped rod was not suppose to do this. If it spins it is suppose to come back to the reel being on top.. What did I do wrong? My only thought

The spool of thread has the fuzzies. I looked at it under magnification and the thread looks bad. I dont use the thread tensioner that is like on a sewing machine. I will apply another coat of finish today and see how it turns out. I will not do anything with the other 5 rods until I figure if that is going to work on the first one.

Just finished 6 rods with gudebrod orange NCP thread size a. Applied finish and out came the fuzzies. Not such a good feeling. That goodness I only applied finish to one of the rods when I noticed the fuzz. I have tried to lightly burn the fuzz off the other 5 rods. Will apply finish tomorrow and hope that they come out ok. If not I was told to apply several coats of finish and the fuzz mig

I spent 4 hours with Scott at Fishsticks on Saturday picking out parts for a project I am doing. Just wanted to say thanks for all the help that Scott provided. And say sorry to anyone else needing micro guides because I wiped him out. That is until he gets another shipment.

I am looking to do about 100 blanks. Just went and bought some paint in a can that is made for automotive vinyl. It is suppose to flex very well. Sprayed the blank twice and then covered with some poly. Did not turn out just like I wanted it to. I want to try a pvc pipe but dont know what kind of paint to buy. The paint store tells me that the autopaint will probably flex off the first tim

Does anyone know what method a factory uses to apply color to a blank? I have done a search and found a ton of info on subject but could not find this answer. How hard is it to duplicate that process?

Are the rules still the same for the sports excise tax? I know another builder who says that they raised the amount for resale to $200.00 before the tax should be applied. He also said that he pays the tax when he receives klthe parts from the dist. didn't know that you can do that,

How much tension do you put on your thread for micro guides? Just finished wrapping a rod and some of the guides I can twist almost all the way around the blank. I know that it needs to be somewhat tight but how tight.

Is there any information in print that I can pick up that will tell why you would use a certain blank for certain application? I have seen in suppliers catalogues where they have alot of different blanks for the same type of fishing. How do you determine for instance if you are going to be worm fishing which blank to get? Med heavy or med with a fast tip or moderate tip. I say this because I

I have removed several reel seats with the boiling water method. It takes several minutes in the water to loosen up the epoxy, but it does work.

49. Decals
Finally found a program that would work for by decals. Microsoft publisher. Everything has turned out great as far as making the labels. The problem that I am having is in the printing of said labels. I am using a HP 4300 series printer. I am having the most problems out of the halo paper. Sometimes it wont feed into printer and the print quality is not good. I have it set on high quality p

What software has anyone found that works to make these decals. I have tried Corel Draw 4 and Adobe Illustrator but can not get either one to work. I know that it is probably something that I am not doing right. I am looking for a name of some software that is more user friendly. Please Help.

Just checked out grizzly. They seem very good for the price. Has anyone used the G8690? It should be sufficent for turning wood handles for rods.

Is the same true with using micro guides that on a conventional wrap rod will the line still try to go to the bottom of the rod? I was thinking that since the guides are so small that it might not have the same effect as larger guides sine they are closer to the blank.

I did a search and could not come up with anything. I am now done with my composit grips except for the final finish. I read on a post from Tom K that I believe that he uses spar urethane. Is this correct? I am going to the store now to get some but was wondering which brand is best for this application? thanks
