Does anyone know who else makes a wire guide for saltwater. I have purchased the xbcg series ,60-25 sizes. I am needing a 20 and 15 or 12 but pacbay doesn't have them listed. I went to web site and they dont show that they make them. Is there another guide that would match what I have now?

92. Books
Are there any good books or videos out there that would tell a new rod builder how to determine whick rod blank selection is best. I know that there are hundreds of different blanks on the market and it is hard to choose which one to use. Some bass blanks would work for other types of fishing also. Quite confusing to say the least. Also guides is another topic. So many to choose from. Help

Billy, Yes I am the one. the threads started to move on me about 1 inch outside of the tie off band. AFter putting of cp and letting it dry, then appling finish they moved on me allowing the underwrap to show. Didn't notice it when i applied finish but after it had almost finished drying.

I am using polyneon like you are suppose to. Thanks for the info. I will try using more pressure on the threads to see if they will stop moving on me.

95. Maderia thread
Has anyone else had problems with using maderia thread when applying finish. I pack the threads as tight as I can and apply several coats of cp. When finish is applied the threads tend to move on me and I can not get them to lay together. Looks rather bad IMO. I know that Billy uses maderia alot and was wondering if you have had this problem also?

I would like to pose a question. How many rod builders use a power wrapper to wrap guides on a blank? I can see using one for an underwrap because it would save alot of time. I use it to wrap guides on also but I do see that I get alot of gaps when doing it this way. Could the speed that I am turning rod be the problem? I try to burnish the threads as much as possible but still gaps. I guess

What effect does room temp have on threadmaster? I am finishing 2 rods in my garage and it is probably 80 degrees and it seems like it is taking forever to dry. I have finish at 70 degrees and it seem to go fast.

My can that I got at the show did the same thing. I probably only have enough to do a couple of rods.

I just glued up a handle assembly and was wondering how long to leave it in the clamp. The instructions says that it should be dry in 4 hours but to leave it set for 24 hours before handling. Could I leave the rod in the clamps for a few hours and then remove? Not sure if the corks will seperate or not.

If you want it to look like there is no thread at all you can use white silk thread. Do not use CP. When finish is applied the thread dissappears and the guide looks like it is just sitting on the blank.

105. first fly rod
I am attempting to build my first fly rod. My son won a handle assembly at the rod show so we are building this one together. My question is this. How do you get your guide spacing? Is it the same as if you are building a spinning rod? Thanks for your help.

109. flipping stick
The other day a friend of mine showed me his flipping stick that he had custom made. Not sure what kind of blank it was but I dont think that it matters. The rod was made in 2 pieces. The handle about 22 inches long with the rest of the other piece telescoping from inside the handle portion. Never seen this before and was wondering what it is for. Any advantages to making a rod like this. I

Is there a special formula for spacing when doing a butt wrap? It seems like every time that I do one the thread slips. I do use a underwrap first so the thread will have something to hang on to. I purchased a dvd on butt wraps and it stated to space the diamonds (if you are doing diamonds) the length of the circumference of the blank. Is this so? As always I appreciated all the help that I

What type of glue would you use to glue pieces of eva once you cut them to make a colorful grip? I saw at the rod building show this year that someone had a picture of bart simpson inlayed in a eva grip. How do you accomplish this?

Any one have an idea on which video to buy for beginning rod builder. I have built several rods so far but would like to do a better job. I.E. With rod finishing and better looking butt wraps. One that goes into more detail than just from start to finish. Hope this is clear.

119. Rod Buildes Show
I just want to personally thank Jim Upton, Ralph O'Quinn, Ken Preston, Andy Dear, Mark Crouse, Tom Kirkman, and Bill Stevens for all the information that was provided to me at the show. I know that I can take all of what I learned and build a better rod for my customers. Plus some of the techniques that you all use will make some of my jobs easier. Sorry if I left anyone else off of my list.
