92. Re: cork jig
From the half inch to the 1/4 of an inch, it cuts the 1/8 and the 1/16 with the washer, but not the 1/4 form the 1/2 inch cork ring.

93. cork jig
I have just recieved the cork jig from Mudhole, and I just cut some cork and let me say it works alot better then trying to cut that cork with out one, I have some half inch thick cork rings, and wanted to cut them into 1/4 inch thick rings but the cork jig does not do 1/4 inch thickness, so I guess i will have to buy some, but over all it works really great , alot better then the razor blade and

94. Re: Kids Rod
You're right Jim about that cost, but one of the rod is for a church friend of mine and he fishes a lot, so I hope and pray that he teaches his kid how to take care of the rod, I think I did put over $75 to build this rod, the other was considerably less since i had the blank and most of the components I had as extra stuff, either way I am sure once they start to learn to fish it will be a joy fo

95. Re: Kids Rod
I just built 2 of them kids kind of rods, I bought a Mudhole CRB rod in in blue and cut it down to like 5 foot , and rod blank I had I cut it to 4and ahalf, then got a Zebco micro reel 11, and did a static test for the guides, kinda funny cause I never did a static test for such short of rod, the reelseat needed an arbor,I drilled it a little too much for the smaller rod, so I had to use a liitl

102. Re: fly rod wt's?
Thanks all, so I should be good with the 4wt, simply cause the 4wt has more power, backbone, then the 2wt. now to look for a 4wt.

103. Re: fly rod wt's?
My thiught was that the 4wt would be like twice the stifness or twice the slowness then the 2wt, I will just have to have it in my hands to tell the difference from the 2wt that i have. Thanks.

I may add I use the lightest i can go, like Adam stated, 600, I always finish with a higher grade don't know if it matters but to me it makes me feel more secure when I put the epoxy coat on.

Thats how I do it. it works out even better when I sand it down smooth and straight, just got to be careful not to go down to the thread, happened to me and I had to redo the whole wrap.

So Mark what your'e saying is that the more lengthy the pattern is the chance that it will slip? Just wanting to make sure cause I hae done various lengths of wraps and is wondering if that is why some slip more then others.

Same here, what I eventually did was fill it up best I could with rod bond or epoxy then wrapped a dark thread over that and carefully epoxied it, being careful not to get epoxy on the cork or eva, I wiped the excess epoxy off as it was turning on the dryer, very carefully again, I am thinkiing if them clamps that Mudhole sells is gonna help but I haven't tried them yet , hope this helps, I know

But what is it? I am thinking it is just a bucket of paint that you dip part of your rod in, can anybody clearify this for me? Thank you.

114. Re: shipping rods
I was wondering, what about folding a big piece of cardboard, like the rods blanks I get , what I mean is like using bubble wrap and paper stuffing, and tape it up, with a piece of really thick cardboard taped on the bash for support, seems to mre it would work and would cost less. just curious.

I don't mean to start a fire! I am truly sorry, about my ignorance about copywritten laws, I just didn't want to spend 30$ or more right now with Christmas coming up, kinda tight right now, I will probably just do a simple Chevron that I know by rememberance. Thanks all for the law school on copyright, Tight wraps all!

George, I just got finished with one, a med-hvy 7'3", MHX. fast act. I got #10, then #5, then 4.5 all the way to tip. I had built rods with all 3,s and some with a 5 then 4.5, then all 3,s to tip, the only difference I see is that the butt guide is closer to the reel seat, and the look is different, but casting wise, I cannot tell to much difference, But I do think the one with the #10, does

The reason I brought this up is because I have just built one with the #10, then the #5,then 4.5 running guides, I still got it on the dryer, and it should be ready for the real testing by tomorrow. It worked really well when I tested it with the guides taped on, so I know that it will work great! looks good too.

Lol! Just curious, Cause of the Fuji concept where the casting guides is #10 then a #5, then 4.5 or 4s, but I guess you wouldn't really need them to be like the microwaveguides. Wonder how it would look though. A Microwave with a casting #10 and a #5, in one component.

Do they have the microwave guide system come in casting guides, or are they just in the spinning sets?
