What weight are you building? Eternity2 are really good blanks. The six weight is really sweet. I have tried five, six and seven weight and they are all nice. they are fast but not extremely fast. I think they hold their aftm class well, but one like gpx seems yo be the best, but they are able to handle lower weight or heavier fly lines. I think they are the best among the blanks you have menti

We are few guys here Norway who are impressed by the performance of the eternity2 blank, especially the six weight. The ones I have used are either with single recoil guides or light wire snake guides. Within your price range , it is a winner that will outperform blanks costing 2- 3 times more, though there are many good blanks out there.

I have tried the Affinity-MX 8,6 not the 9 . It is maybe little bit faster than rain shadow Eternity2. The bottom section on the Eternity2 works a little deeper under load when you push the rod and affinity is a little stiffer in the bottom section .Both are fast. I like the Eternity 2 very well. It handles a broad range of fly lines. It is good at close range and makes 90 feet cast easily .

To modify myself a little bit : A combination of a belt and and the glued on fighting but on my 14 weight rod would have been an ideal combination I think only a gimbal would be a little awkward with everything you do before fighting the the fish, may be even then. I know some rods had a gimbal and a delerin knob you stick on the gimbal so you get both options. I do not know if this i

I forgot . They made two series gt40 and the more expensive presidential series. Out of curiosity., i did a few test cast with my 9-10 with a sa 8 weight saltwater taper. I was able to throw 80 feet. The blank is heavy compared to todays blanks. The tip section of the four piece blank is 2,5 gram heavier than comparable blanks. Are you sure that your blank is not mislabed when it comes aftm weig

I have used fuji tlsg 7 on most of my 7 and 7 weight.. i have never thought I needed anything bigger. Fished everything from permit, sea running brown trout, roosterfish and many more. The weight saving from a size eight to a size seven guide is quite big.

Thanks, If I go for snake guides, should go for a ceramic tip 6 or 7 mm? & mm is lighter than a wire top 7 mm is the same weight.

I have built quite a few rods with Fuji TLSG titanium guides. Very satisfied with these guides This time I am building a 7 weight Sage ONE and I am thinking using snake guides. I have weighted five fuji tlsg7 with a tip, weights around 1,07 gram.Black chrome snakes guides set with top 0.95gram if I go with a 6mm ceramic guides and around 1,02 grams if I go with a fly top or a 7mm sic fuji t

Try to build on the Beulah Bluewater 13-15. Though blank but still castable. This weight size is though on your arm and is meant for the really big ones. It is not a rod you blind cast for hours, rather minuttes. I think anglers workshop carries them

I use Struble U18-HG Series Fly Seats on all my saltwater rods. One big advantage :Tapered grooves on each side of the body and openings in the retainer provide for safe, temporary placement of your hook.

I have used their bluewater series a lot. The thoughest blank I know about. They are my favourite blanks.Building a 8/9 surf rod now and i proud owner of two of their classic spey rods. From my my point of view they are among the best out there. I do not know anything about what actions you prefer, but they are really worth a try.Anglers workshop on the lefr sells them.

At least Anglers workshop has it: Beulah bluewater 10/11 blank.Comes with an extra top.I was in Mexico first time this year and brought with me three different 10 weights.Nothing could match this blank when it comes to practical use.Best blank I ever have used and really though blank. I am using a streamer express 400 grain line with it, if you are a better caster than me a 350 grain should ev

If you go for fuji TLSG 7 as running guides, they are only 0.16 gram and recoil 0.12-.014 gram. Fuji TsfT 7 a bit heavier than rcoil top abotut 0.34. gram Both guide system is lighter than ordinary snakes.

Go for tlsg. Because they are lighter. I would go for 8 as the smallest size.
