I have salmon rod that was crushed by a door in the male section. I glued it together with rod bond and and glued a spigot from a scrap blank inside. This is rod for up 3 oz lures. I have never encountered any problems with afterwards. So the advices you been given so far should work.

If this helps. I just finished a three weight with 9 nine guides. PacBay minima 10mm as striper and 8 PacBay lite wire black chrome snake guides size 1 as the smallest (0,06 gram). Including the lite wire tip top, all the wraps, including the ferrule wrap and butt wrap with a hook keeper. All this with flex coat high build added 2,4 gram or 0.08465751oz to the rod weight. I used as litle epoxy

Only one feet so if you wrap snake guide where the blank has diameter of 7,5mm or 0.295 of inch the thread will weight will be a total of 0,08 gram or 1,25 grain for a snake guide an half the weight for a single leg. There are many variables how thick you make the epoxy coating or if you like longer wraps, but for my style , where I like to make the wraps as small and light as possible the weigh

I have always wondered how much weight thread and epoxy add to a rod. Today while I was cleaning my hobby room I found I found a piece of thread with epoxy, which came from I fly rod have stripped down. The thread is A size and the diameter of the "cylinder" is 7,5mm and the length 4,3 mm. Thickness of the epoxy is fairly normal for a fly rod by my standard, covering the threads and le

Are there any difference in durability between bright chrome versus black chrome coating on snake guides?

I like the black pearl recoils, except for the tip top which is really heavy, which surprised me, and I think it might trap the line in the backcast. I skipped it. I have not been able to wear the recoils out yet. NRX from Gloomis use them on all their NRX rods except for the tip. So does Hardy on some of their rods. They do not make noise as RSNX does is my experience. I build two simular r

I was a big fan fuji sic titanium, but minima will have the same problem. When I got the fish of a lifetime a got a" frayed" connection to the fly line. Not the fault of the guides. With snake guides this would have been a non issue, however with a ringed guide size eight I needed help to feed the fly line connection through the guides with 125 lb fish on the other end.

From Hopkins and Holloways web site: In years of practice we have found that an English pattern is better suited to a softer, slower action blank than an American pattern which is by far better on a fast action blank. We proved this theory by putting American pattern snakes onto a soft slow action blank in a relatively short time of use the inside legs were showing sign of ware and in fact the Ep

I know. Maybe I should have be more specific. I prefer thosed line when I wade with water above my hip. If I am firm ground or boat SA saltwater line or similar is what I use . I think the blank handles a lot of different lines well within the given aftm number.

I have used all the eternity2, except for the 10 weight. For me they perform well with the rated line class . I mainly use gpx, mpx , outbound short lines or lines with heads up 35-40 feet. However have I friend who uplines, but he he is using 12 feet or longer leaders. The blank carries uplining well, but I prefer it at the rated line weight and a crisper rod. Much depend on your casting sty

I have an issue with some tich coated snake guides of a well known brand. I have fish the rod, maybe for 15 hours. On a few guides the tich coating has started to show wear leaving the copper-primed stainless steel visible. Decided to replace these guides( they are all the same size) and it was easier to peel of the tich coating than epoxy on the windings with an razor blade. After removing the

I have used fuji tlsg . Pros: Silent when casting and retrieving, do not think they ad any weight. Makes the the line lasting longer. Less heat on the guides when fighting the big one. Cons they are little soft and more prone to be bent. Smaller diameter than snake guides , a disadvantage if you get a tangled line.
