I have nothing but praise for Anglers Resource. Not only did they replace the grooved guides they gave me a choice of cermet or SiC. I conferred with my customer and he went with the SiC.
As for the Grooved guides they were sent to Japan. I Can only assume Fuji wants to know why they failed too.

They have the Guide size and Fuji stamped on them. But counterfits did come to mind.
I wonder if Fuji could have had a bad batch in the past.

Has anyone seen Fuji Gold cermet rings grove?
I had a customer bring me a custom rod with Cermets to be replaced. The first 5 guides plus the tip are all grooved.
He uses 8 lb mono and uses the rod to wade fish. This rod was built in 2003.
IF replace them with Cermets will this happen again?

I know the SCIV Bass Rods are technique specific. Are the SCV rods an improved or beefed up version of the SCIV for the same techniques?

70. Re: Grouper rod
Hi all. I agree a conventional rod would be better, but the person asking for the rod insisted on the spinning set up.

I was asked about a custom bottom fishing rod for the northeast for black fish preferably 6- 8oz sinkers strong enough to pull 10lb fish out of the rocks/structure.
I am not familiar with this fish species, should take on this build or pass it on to someone who knows what it takes to build a rod for this fish? I do not want to ruin his opinion of custom rods by doing a bad job when some one e

I noticed St Croix is using Recoils on their legend inshore rods but using Fuji Ti tops. I think this would eliminate the tip grooving issue.
St. Croix is also using recoils on inshore rod up to 20 lb. I have also seen G Loomis useing the same guides on their Greenwater rods.
Maybe there is less a chance of guide failer than perceived?

I am thinking of building a 7’ lamiglas IMC845 or CC84H bass casting rod rated for 12-25 lb. line with recoils. My question is should I use The RSG 2 foot guides for the whole rod or can I use two RSG stripper guides size 10 and 8 and then use the RSPG single foot guides size 7 for the running guides? Has anyone ells used recoils on such a rod and what was the setup?

You might also consider the American tackel Ring lock guides. They have a cupped frame for the rings to sit in,and are marketed as less likley to pop out. check them out at the American tackel link above or Mudhole.

Do any of you know if there is an increase in casting distants with Recoils guides in relation to Ceramic ring guides?
I am thinking the ceramic being a harder material might be a better choice for distance.

I helped a friend build a light tiger eye spinning rod. Don't ask me why but he used it for snook off a jetty. The rod went double and he lost the fish but it did not break.
