Do any of you know if there is an increase in casting distants with Recoils guides in relation to Ceramic ring guides?
I am thinking the ceramic being a harder material might be a better choice for distance. I'd rather be catching! Re: Casting distance Recoils VS ceramic?

Nope, the ring surface (unless we're talking very, very rough) will have very little effect on casting distance. There just isn't that much friction between the lines and the guides on the cast.
What will make a difference, is weight. Lighter guides are generally better in that more of your imparted energy will go into casting the line or lure instead of being used to start and stop greater mass. ............... Re: Casting distance Recoils VS ceramic?

Reduce weight increases sensitivity. And recoils do not freeze up as easily as ceramic guides. More surface for water to cling to and freeze on a ceramic guide. Another performance factor for a winter rods.
