Quality was not the best choice of words. Quality is often confused with dollar value. The best one I heard in the recent past was "You can tell it's a quality reel by its weight."

Some have said line leaving a casting reel does not come off straight. Others have said that it does come off straight.
What physical evidence is available?
1. What we have individually seen or experienced
2. The Fuji video
Is there anything else available for evaluation?
From the Fuji video we have the following:
Low profile reel
Reel's line guide fixed at center when casting

Randy,
For future reference:
The older Senator 3/0 reels had bronze bushing bearings. That may have changed. If your reel does have bushing bearings, a heavy weight gear lube or heavy weight engine oil works well for the bushings.
The older JigMaster reels came with bushings. I believe they still come with the bushings.
The JigMaster Hi Speed (high gear ratio) 505 and 506(?) came with ball

Randy,
There is a Penn 309M entry level reel that meets most of your stated requirements.
It's under general purpose reels.
Low cost, level wind, capacity 300 yards of 30 lb mono. The gear ration is 2.8:1
It may work for you until you get a good feel for your needs in the types of fishing you describe.
I have never used one. Perhaps others have and will give an opinion.

Check out the Senator 112 (3/0 size) and the Jigmaster. Both have the same size spool. Some people do use chrome plated brass spools while others use aluminum. For a while, plastic spools were made.

133. Re: Color preservers
If you desire a little more "pop", use a metallic underwrap, nylon overwrap, and no CP.

I believe we need to summarize the information.
As mentioned by Russ, the fisherman's wants do play a part in the equation and do dictate the required outcome.
More basically, considerations are type fish, habitat/structure, terminal tackle, type and size line, type and size reel, fisherman and skills, rod characteristics to include length, line rating, lure rating, and action. All of these

The layout can support the effective use of either a spinning or convention reel.

At this point I am concerned about the integrity of the rest of the blank. There seem to be additional imperfections to the blank's finish. What was used to remove the finish?
It may be best to take the blank to a shop (or 3) that does custom work and ask for an opinion.
You may find it less expensive to purchase a new blank. You need to consider the cost of materials and your time to mak

Matthew,
I <am> unable to determine the extent of damage to your blank. Was the graphite damaged or was it only the epoxy?
Perhaps you could call ACP Composites (listed above) and explain the damage to them. They may have additional questions to better understand the situation. The extent of damage will drive the solution. If the damage is very minor, then tow, tape, or a braided slee

Size 12 KW guides should work well for you. Use size A thread and be sparing with the epoxy. Or more appropriate, first tape the guides in place and then test cast.
The running guides on my tournament rods (conventional) are LNAG12 and I have not experienced any problems. Although the mainline is small, the shockleader is 50#.
Regarding your shockleader hitting the guides, there can be two i

Why not just install a Windows partition on your Mac that has the greatest throughput.
You would need to buy a copy of Windows 7 or 8.
The fastest approach may be to take your computer to your nearest Apple store.
Mac is set up to install the Windows operating system.
If you are a computer capable person, here's how it is done.

144. Re: Help with resin
Eliseu,
I have had similar results when testing thread from one company. There was so much silicon oil on the thread that the epoxy seemed to grow legs and mound up in one location. Are you using a polyester thread or other sewing thread?

Phil,
The guys in Corpus Christi are currently testing one of the reels I sell. It's being used in a shark fishing tournament. It's a 2 speed 80 lb class reel.

Alcohol can destroy metallic thread and cause early fading of thread. As a general practice, it would be better to use water for testing.
Also consider that the guide feet may show through your nylon overwrap. Guide frame color may be a consideration or your metallic thread could over wrap the guide feet.
Do not forget to evaluate your test wraps in bright sunlight.

You can add some bling by using size A metallic thread as your underwrap.
Apply your cord as you would do in building a space or tiger wrap. Start with about 4 turns of cord before adding your sacrificial cord. Finish the cord wrap with about 4 turns and then remove the sacrificial cord.
If desired, you can let the metallic show at each end of your cord wrap.
The sacrificial cord does n
