Recommendation for "Shark" Rod Blank

Was asked about building a rod that would be an "All Purpose" Shark rod (multiple shark species). That is a species in accordance to rod building that I am unfamiliar with. Anyone have a recommendation on which/what blank to build on for such applications? Thanks in advance!

Will this rod be casting or trolling, bait or lure, used from a boat or from shore, a conventional rod, a fly rod, or a spin rod? What size sharks are anticipated; closer to 3' or 6' or 9'? Will this rod be transported as one piece, two pieces, or more pieces? What pound test line will be used with this rod?

Casting and bait from my understanding. I know he's out on boats for them. As for pieces I would feel more comfortable with no more than 2, but that's because I have weird OCD/trust issues with multi piece rods.

I suggest you start by thinking roller guides, gimble butt on a blank no more than 66" long rated for at least 50# line.

Phil,

The guys in Corpus Christi are currently testing one of the reels I sell. It's being used in a shark fishing tournament. It's a 2 speed 80 lb class reel.
