Has anyone cut down the American tackle g2 12” handle to 10”? If so did you cut from the reel seat side, the butt or both? To me it looks like the red seat side would be the best option.
Yes I know they have the adjustable version but the individual doesn’t care for it’s look.
Thanks
Tom

If you want to go 25, I would go 25,12, then F series 6 followed by 6’s to tip. I would however recommend 20, 10, then f series 6 out to the tip. Set up in a bullseye pattern. Place butt guide at 20” from tip of spool and as mentioned bullseye the remainder (10 &6) then progressively space runners to the tip. I personally step my runners down to 3’s or 2.5’s. If you are not passing a knot 4’s

You want one rod to drop shot, big crank, jig and spinnerbait with? You are expecting too much from one stick. Drop shot is one rod, jig is another (some use same for larger spinnerbait) spinnerbait should be another and big crank requires yet another. I understand you only have funds for one but pick the one you use the most and build a dedicated stick for that. Decide what attributes are importa

Happy New folks,
Does anyone have a suggestion to get close to Gudebrod HT 9002 ( bright silver)? I have fish hawk metallic silver and it is a duller shade of silver. I am looking for the brighter color.
Thanks
Tom

Good read but the build was awful! For someone who scrutinizes every aspect of every rod he tests, he may want to peruse his notes and he will quickly see where he fell short, but we all must start somewhere!

Lynn, as with most things, the proper tools just make it that much more enjoyable. Kinda like comparing Blackhawk tools to Snap On, both work but there is clearly a better tool between them.

Keith, jump in with both feet. I caught a 7.24lb spotted bass on Table Rock last year on the rig. I built a bunch of different rigs to see which was gonna be MY setup of choice. You will be pleased with the Point Blank. The xxhmf handles the bigger rigs Like the flash mob and other larger variants better, if you are throwing something smaller like the flash mob jr the hmf will easily handle it as

David, come and live on the wild side a bit! I have boat flipped 6’s on an HM MB 705 for years!! Have also done the same with the X Ray SJ 736. When done right they can easily handle it. Shoot I have boat 4’s and 5’s on a rain shadow revalation cb70m.... Although I did screw up and it cost me a blank so ya gotta be careful when doing it.

Good point Jim, I may build an entire new line up for next year on the point blanks. I know my start with y’all was a bit bumpy but it’s on the straight n narrow now.

Reach out to vibronics rods. Owner is Steve Gardner and see what he can do for you. He is in NC but a VERY accomplished bass anglers and still on the forefront of design and innovation. His work is spot on!

David, use citrus strip to remove the finish on the immortal. The sj’s definitely have more power than the MB’s by a long shot. I think the mb736 is best suited for finesse type stuff.

Shawn, I use the 7’3”mh as a dock skipper, it for me has the perfect tip and the additional length allows me to back off of the dock and keep my distance. I have built docks skippers from 6’3”,6’6”, 6’9”, 6’10” and 7’. I actually prefer the 7’3. On lake of the Ozarks the docks are very close together and being able to stay out a little farther makes it easier for me.

David, I actually use the x ray sj736 for shakey heads. I only use a 1/4 oz head and with my worm total weight is 5/8oz. I also use it for light wobbleheads and finesse jigs as well. I have no problem feeling the most subtle of bites in water as deep as 25’. I will say that I prefer my 7’3” mh point blank for the wobblehead though especially when using a 7/16oz head. The point blank is also a he

Phil spend a day BASS fishing on any lake in the country where you mostly skip docks and you will see Very quickly how it relates to rodbuilng. As I believe the odds of you doing this are about as good as a snowballs chance hades I will refer you to google and YouTube

Spencer, the best method I have found for skipping with a baitcaster is to remove about 1/3 of your spool of line. Since you are not bomb casting the reduced spool capacity will be of no ill affect.
I have found this method to be especially useful on every major brand of baitcaster out there for bass fishing.

Marc,
Try a 20, 10, 5.5 then your runners for the smaller reels. I have used this setup down to 2.0 mm runners and it casts very very well in my opinion. If you are using line larger than 12 lb I would suggest either 2.5 or 3mm runners.

David, the SJ is a much more powerful blank iMO it to me makes a fine all around stick. I use one for heavy shakey heads, light 4” open hook swimbaits, small to medium jigs and lighter Texas rigs.
