Tip/Tops in sizes from #8 tube to #14, and #12 guides casting and spinning. Other than that you better start collecting every rod component known to man because you never know what will come in the door next. If you really want to start repairing rods every and any thing related to fishing rods will at some point be useful. You just have to have space for it. I've been repairing rods for over 30

Trust your retailer on this info, just in case something is wrong you can avoid the cost of return shipping. I don't think any third party would want to get involved in that.

Henry, Can you please post a picture of your fly rod so I can see the color of the blank and if you have a caliper can you measure the O.D. of the section of where the top half mates up to. I have a lot of StCroix broken fly rods and might have a tip section for you.

Don't do any scrapping, just put another correctly mixed coat over it. It WILL be fine. SORRY I DIDN'T READ THE FULL POST. IT's time for the heat gun and the utility knife. Sparingly warm the thread wraps and then cut along the feet to remove the guides. You should be able to unravel the remaining thread.Use a Scotchbrite pad to smooth things out and then rewrap.

Thank you Tom and all of you who contribute to making this forum what it is. Before finding this site,( Since 1977) the only new ideas I got was when I went to sportsmen shows or tackle shops to look at new rods and how they were built. In the 1980's I went to a BASS fishing show somewhere near Cherry Hill,NJ where I got o meet Tom Mann (a big guy), and I also got to meet a guy and see his line o

Glenn, Thru the years of ordering stock, I have mispurchased some slick butt tubes much too small for the Bunkerspoon rods I build for use here on Raritan Bay. With a length of 10" , an O.D.of 1.133' and an I.D. of 0.800"- 0.834" these would be perfect for your use on fresh water trolling rods. They are new , come with trim rings (if you need them). Color is black plastic or nylo

Get a sanding block with 120 grit and go to town on it. Knock off the high spots and then drop down to a finer grit like 220. It'll only take about 15 minutes to come up with a nice smooth blank just like from the factory.

I always did like Permagloss but if you were lucky enough to get a bottle that wasn't partially solid and could use all of it, which was rare I switched to CpXtra and never had a problem since.

Camillo, I would suggest that you check all those guides in the tip section for a rough spot in the rings. Look for cracks, burs or anything that could be slowing the line down in that area. It seems like something is choking your line causing it to back up on itself.

My wife found these little wooden clothespins that are used for holding notes/memos on the fridge door. Well one ended up on my bench and with a little help from my belt sander it is now about 3/16 " wide at the nose and perfectly holds those micro guides near the rod tip. E Z on E Z off, their made of wood so you can file a valley in the nose to accept the guide foot on one jaw and another
