I would encapsulate the tip with a over sleeve using Rod Bond and then sand it down until the tip top snugly fits.

Removing excess epoxy is done with a dry epoxy brush by going around and between the feet pulling away as much as you care to, then using a clean sheet of paper, magazine pages, or any lint free dry substance, wipe the brush out and go on to the next guide if you have to.
Don't glob on the epoxy and you won't have to do this.
I can't help you with hand care because I don't practice it.

Tim is right on with his tip to clean cork with Mr. Clean Magic Eraser. No solvents needed, just wet it with water and scrub away that dirt. Your grips will look as good as new. Cork Seal is the ticket to prevent that dirt from returning.

96. Re: Thread dye
you'll never be able to do it, the thread is too tightly wound and the dye will not permeate into the core of the spool.

For comfort, your bench height should be a major step in the plans of your shop. If you plan on standing while working, your bench should be so that your are erect (not hunched over) and have some sort of floor mat to stand on to cushion your feet.

Don't bother counting your thread wraps you'll go insane, just evenly tape off your starting point from the outside of the guide feet to the center of the ring. Not all guide feet are the same length on opposing sides of the ring. On some casting guides that aren't evenly braced you may have to move your center off the guide ring to the center of the space between the feet. I don't mean to confus

Micky, Get yourself a Center Finding Rule. Align the guide ring with the 0 on the scale, put a piece of tape at an equal distance (lets just say 1 3/8") out from 0 at both ends of the rule with the tape protruding from the edge. Now, transfer the tape to the blank by the protruding ends and this will be where you start you wraps. Your wraps will be the same length as long as you line up the

If you stand at your bench and wrap like I do, a higher working surface will be more comfortable. My bench top is 45" tall which allows me to stand erect without leaning forward.Prevents neck and back pain. Also more storage room under the bench.

If after you have achieved all that roger has suggested, wipe all belts and pulleys with alcohol, and then check for some major resistance with the belts off to be sure that all your rod stands are running free. For whatever reason you may have something that is causing your rollers to be binding.

Brian and Bill, thank you for the research on those fly lines.
Phil, What you say is TRUE. But , you can't be guaranteed the same quality of every order. What is good now may not be worth didly on the next.

Phil, If things keep going the way they are, YOU wont have a choice. That will be the only fly line available,at an unaffordable price from someone you will have to bribe to get it. Buy American now while you still can.

Run a line through the tip-tops and hang em like a stringer of fish back up in the attic. They'll be ready to go by the time the lake is frozen.
If you can put a set in by tension, you can take a set out of em by tension.

Justin, I do two things. I have drilled a hole in a paint mixing stick at the center height of my chuck (with the jaws closed) while resting it on the bed. I now can use the paint mixer anywhere on the bed knowing that as long as the hole is in alignment with the center of the blank, it is level.
To keep the blank tight in the jaws of the chuck without crushing the blank, I wrap a rubber band ar
