No need for any kind of oil. Alcohol or water does the trick.

In my opinion you could probably purchase a much better blank for less money than the hundred dollar expedited fee. Not to mention the cost you'll incur with shipping. Lots of blanks to choose from MHX, Batson, St Croix and others that won't break the bank.

I'd like to know where to get a PVC tube for 2.00. A four foot cut off sells for 5.00 to 6.00 at my local Lowes and Home Depot.

Give it at least four hours at 71 degrees. I can do a second coat in 3 hours at 78 degrees. But after applying the second coat I wouldn't use it the next day. One day after applying second coat is too soon to use and not enough cure time.

A Castaway 8' XP3 964 or 965 are great blanks to build redfish rods on. You say you don't know if they are casting or spinning rods or if they are using live bait or not, we'll those are questions that you have to ask and communicate with your customer on. You have to know the basics of how they plan on using the rods and what type of lures or bait they plan on using whether they'll be casting a

5 minute epoxy is all you need for roller tips. Rod bond takes too long to cure for just a tip or even a roller tip, with the exception of 10 minute rod bond.

I don't see where anyone above suggested you purchase a kit. You were given many different models as suggestions on what blank you could choose from. Choose the blank you want. Select the guides you want to use and then pick out a set of grips and reel seat, cork or EVA then put everything together, add finish then catch some bass.

The problem is not the high build but that you put too much finish on your guides and probably your rod wasn't level to start with

Bert here are a few grip assemblies that I stock. Please call or email for more info. Foregrips can be omitted if you want to go with the no foregrip look. The photo on the bottom has a small 3/4'' foregrip.

Just go to any hardware store like Lowes or Home Depot an any other chain that may be in your area. Buy any kit of two part epoxy whether it's 5 minute or 30 minute. Prep your handle assembly, mix it up, glue your grips together and and let cure. No worries, no hassle and you're done.

Sammy you need to get in on this. I sold 8 Microwave guide rods at the Houston show this past weekend. Plus we sold over 15 sets of American Tackle MIcrowave sets and the Original Castaway Microwave guide now known as the Line Tamer guide. We did lots of demo casting ourselves and also a guide from the area picked up the rod and did some demo casting from his booth which resulted in extra sales o

Thanks everyone for the well wishes. It was a very close call and I'm very fortunate to be here. The shop is almost back in order and I should have everyone's order that was placed while I was in Houston out by Friday. I want to thank everyone for their patience and understanding. It means a lot to me. Thanks again, Lance

Mitch, the spinning version of the Tour Star grip fits the Aero 16 perfectly. The Tour split grip fits the Aero 17 also. We have the grips and seats in both sizes in stock.

My only recommendation is that if the blank is wide enough to support the KB guide I'll use them but if the blank is smaller in diameter then I go with the narrower KT guides.

On heavy power rods such as blanks that has tip sizes of 6.0 through 7.0 the guide foot doesn't extend outsideof the blank. It makes sense to us to use a heavier duty guides on power rods for durability. Also taking in consideration the design of the foot, which is wider and has a couple of barbs to help keep the guide from pulling out we see no need to use a locking wrap.
