Sure thing. I use Flex Coat epoxy all the time. It's EVA with the rubber coating on top. Just ream it close to size and install just like plain EVA.

I don't know why any rodbuilder would even suggest putting a coating on a high modulus blank like an NFC in the first place.

It's not open to the public. You have to be in the tackle business as a manufacturer, wholesaler, buyer or tackle and sporting goods dealer to get in. You have to premregister as one of the above. It's not a show that just anyone can walk off the street and attend.

I bought my first spiral wrapped rod from Bud himself at a Bass Masters Classic in the early nineties. I then started selling his rods in my store shortly after. He then sold out to someone else in the early 2000's . The eventually went out of business some years after. Most of the rods were built with gold plated guides and the Blanks were brown or burgundy in color.

Nothing hard about them. Glue your arbors in each part, let dry, ream to fit and glue in place.

Sometimes it's best to tell your customer that what he asking for is unrealistic , impossible to to , cost prohibitive or all of the above and then look for a solution that'll benefit him and not get yourself in a chaotic mess for you to try to figure out.

I've yet to hear of any comments on how fast a spool of thread runs out. I'm sure if it states on the spool it's 100 yards. Do a test wrap of about 6" long then unravel it and measure how long it is. You' d be surprised at how much thread you used. Add in all of your guide wraps, a decorative wrap and any other trim wraps and a 100 yard spool will run out pretty quick.

Scott, watch the Envirotex. That stuff is known to yellow more than our rod finish.

Instead of using rod finish cast it in a clear resin. The resin will stay crystal clear and never yellow. You can pick up a quart of resin at Michaels or Hobby Lobbby.

Randolph I couldn't agree with you more. Until you use a good quality hair brush you never realized how much better your finish will look. Cleanup is just a matter of wiping off the excess finish off of your brush with a napkin and just dropping it in your brush cleaner until the next time you use it.

Well I would think if he's asking about the Microwave system he would be building a spinning rod. Just a thought, and I may be wrong, but you CAN use spinning gear on just about every species of fish out there.

Ken, Jesse published a How To on building them in an old issue of Rodcrafter magazine, I think sometimes in the early to mid nineties. I have it somewhere and will try to find it in the next day our so.

Jeremy, I'll put up a photo of the two on the photo board. Bill, sorry but no. I have to buy them as a set like everyone else and can only offer them as a set. I've built several rods with them already but never used the running guides provided.
