Been using minimas almost exclusively lately. Ul to light builds. Been running size 4 runners. Next build is going to be a ML 7'3". Got everything laid out and ready to start wrapping. Wondering about the runners though. Not very concerned about strength. Will most likely do a locking wrap which I have not been doing. Wondering about the size based on possible uses for the rod. At some point

I got back into building a couple years ago. Been out about twenty years or so. Right about the time G Loomis blanks became unavailable. Loomis and more so Lamiglas were my go to blanks. Lamiglas did not offer as many models that fit my needs as Loomis. Lamiglas builds are still going strong for me and are among my favorite rods. Anyways when I got back into things I immediately thought of Lam

Hope it works out for you. My issue was I ordered a blank and grips. Two separate codes. For some reason the the blank code got applied to the grips as well. No problem, bill me the difference. Instead I was told to place the order again and the original order would be voided. I was reluctant to do this after past incidents. I placed an order and after three different shipping dates that were

This will probably be deleted but even if one person sees it I will be happy. I had some issues with a order from NFC. I emailed back and forth with Alex. I was not a total sob. But I sternly expressed my frustrations with the situation based on the fact that I have not had a very good track record with dealing with NFC, in addition to the current situation. I want to share one line from the last

I have written them off. Your in retail your going to get some unpleasant emails if you screw up and handle it poorly. For them to cancel the order offer no way to reorder and then say they are cutting ties with me. Some teenage girl kinda b.s. right there. Like the classic Seinfeld soup Nazi "No blank for you"

I won't be building on this blank or any NFC for that matter. I placed the order. Some thing on their end got screwed up with a discount code. I was told to replace the order. When I tried to would not take the discount code. Emailed and expressed my frustration. Should of been taken care of on their end. Well they responded by cancelling my order and removing me from their mailing list. So one m

Got a rainshadow that is probably darn near an exact match to the 702. Don't see a one piece offering on the 741. Which is ok as I want this to be a bit slower, got a MHX S841 to cover the fast end of my UL needs.

Thanks sounds like what I am looking for. Not wanting a noodle. Trying to balance between a rod for drifting live bait as well as small spinners and jigs. Most ULs are either very fast or slow, not many option in the mod fast range.

Considering this blank for a general use panfish/ trout rod. No real specific application. Wonder if anyone has built on this blank and how how it matches up to the listed specs. Thanks.

Assume your referring to finished handles not making your own. Biggest tip I can give is when you go to glue up wrap the grip completely and well with masking tape. The woven texture of the carbon fiber is a pain to get any epoxy whoops' off. Other thing to watch for is if your using a grit coated reamer to ream the grip. The foam core really likes to hold on to any grit that may break loose as y

I had the powder paint on hand in colors that I liked. Less mess than traditional paint. Was easy enough to try.

Been trying to find a green aluminum check dark green not the lime like green you can get. Thought of painting but wanted something easier. Gave it some thought and decided to use the powdercoat for jigheads. Tried several ways it is a no go. Stuff just don't stick worth a darn. Even tried it on some plain aluminum stock and while it stuck a little better still was easy to flake off. Nothing lik

Agreed it is a quality product at a decent price. Just wanted to share some details for those that might be comparing these to Pac Bay when ordering.

In a previous thread I was recommended the Seaguide HLG as a alternative to the Pac Bay Minimas that I could not locate. Got the Seaguides today order them from American Rodbuilders Warehouse. Figured I would give my thoughts for others that might consider them. First off shipping was very fast and they have a great easy to use website. As for the guides I still prefer the minimas. Here is why:

The vortex are not offered in a match style like the minimas. Would have to go with a larger ring size to get close to the height of the minimas and in in turn end up with more weight.

I mean no disrespect with these comments, but have to ask. Fuji has been the gold standard for years. Are you offering a as good of product or a good enough product for the obvious cost savings the companies are going to achieve? Or has fuji reducing it's product line made you the only option?I am a little skeptical when a relative newcomer in any industry knocks down the giant so quickly. I want

What I don't get is the obsession to get as thick a coating as possible in the fewest applications, often just one, when finishing a rod. Nearly every other finish or paint application calls for careful application of multiple thin coats. You can always add more. Taking off is a pain. Only thing I try to get done in one coat is the guide foot tunnel. For the guide wrap itself I don't care if it t

Well you all talked me into trying the seaguides. Got a set ordered for my next planned build. I will compare the them to the Pac Bay and see how they look .Hopefully I like them enough to complete my sets of minimas. Thanks for all the input.

Anglers workshop does not stock the Minima M series. Norman thanks for suggesting the seaguides. Was unaware anyone offered something similar to the minimas. Might go that route.Have not heard anything negative about seaguide, but always unsure of something new. I know what I am getting with the Pacbay. Will keep looking for PacBays but at least I got another option now.

Mo that is the exact page I was looking for. As I said In my original post I was trying to figure out what I have. With the chart I will be able to figure out what model blanks I built on based on the listed specs. I want to be able to compare them to current manufactured blanks for future builds. I took a considerable break from building. The last rods I built was a set of six different rods on

Looking for some help finding a specific guide. I am looking for Pac Bay KM4KG08. These are the Minima M Tiblack/Tiblack size 8 guide. Tried all the usual places out of stock. Even Utmost can't get them from Pac Bay. I am not looking to hoard them but I am trying to get a supply built up. Have a need for two for planned builds but am looking for up to six. I have a fair number of the other sizes.

Ron is correct. Grip is bored .25. Just need to drill the butt cap out. It is only approx 3/16 thick.

Going to use a fighting butt as a foregrip. One end is cork composite as is the need to be glued on butt cap. I like the look of the cork composite on both ends. I want to glue the butt cap on and then drill it out to match the I.D. of the rest of the grip. The cap is rather thin maybe 3/16ths. Hole does not need to be perfect as i don't need much over a 1/4" and the edges will be hidden by

Could you possibly remove the ferrule section of the broken blank and fit it to the new tip? Would not be much different than fitting a outer sleeve except the one half would not be glued. Of course it all depends on how close or not the dimensions are.

I think I have this pictured right. You have a SK2 spin seat which you have split and want a check on the two inside ends, then you have a foregrip and a rear grip of some sort. I have yet to find any checks like the WCS other than black. Here is what I have done. I order a aluminum check that matches the O.D. of the reel seat. I am sure the I.D. will be bigger than you want. Then I wrap the ar

Can't speak to flexcoat specifically. I have noticed any type of epoxy seems to smell stronger to me when it is warmer. Storing it or applying it at a higher temp than in the past?

Looking for some info that I thought I found once and saved, but can't find now. Years back I built several rods on Perigee blanks all for my own use. I label nothing and don't use factory labels. No particular reason just prefer not to. I engrave a number in the reel seat that is hidden by the reel. Number corresponds with log book entry, and recently a computer file. I log every component detai

Extra thanks to Kent for such a in depth reply. You confirmed a lot of what I have heard. Got a lot of options to look at now. Probably going to look at 1000 series, as confirmed by this thread th
