I just wanted to let everyone know that I took Toms advice and contacted Batson about the problem I was having with my #4 curved butt. They where aware of the problem and had since tried to check everyone before they left their shop, but mine just must have slipped through the cracks. I spoke with Mike Thorton who is the Product & Sales Manager and like Tom said wanted to do what ever it took

I am wanting to buy a leather grip that is ready to install since I can't turn any cork or foam to make it myself. I see them with the gold trim but I would like one with silver. Does anyone know who I may be able to purchase these from?
Thanks for your help!!

Yes Kevin I am aware of it being a chair rod, and mine will be used in the gunnels as a planer rod for those deep Wahoo’s. I also noticed when I tightened the collett nut to the ferrule by hand that the ferrule did not fit real tight in the butt. I wonder if I use something to tighten the nut more would it solve the problem. I have noticed that they make tools for this; I just never have had to

ID was 1" , and that seems to be the standard for a #4. It just seems that the OD of the butt and it's lenght is way overkill. But what do I know.

I bought one of these in a size 4 and got it in the mail yesterday. I could not believe how big it was...it looked like a 6 instead of a 4. Anyone used these before and noticed them to be larger than say aftco or American? I also noticed that it is 4" longer than a 130# Aftco. It just seems large for an 80# class bent butt.

When I do a guide wrap, how do I go from one color to the next without finishing one color out and going over the top with another. I see how you guys are getting the single bands of color in the middle of another, but how are you tying off one color with just a few wraps and then starting another?
Thanks for your help!!

How much of a rod can you wrap? At what point does it affect the performance of the rod. Could you wrap all the way to the tip?
Thanks for your help!!

Thanks guys for the help. My supplier will certainly replace the blanks with no problem; I was just going to save both parties the trouble if I could some how buff them out.

Yes Fred I think the blanks were damaged during shipment due to the rubbing against the tube.

75. Re: Glitter
The stuff from Michaels can be added directly to your finish and when it's dry it is as smooth as just adding finish.

I see giude wrapes that change color as they exit the foot and end on the rod. These color changes are usally really small bands. How do you get such small bands and still be able to tie it off?
Thanks for the help!!

Jesse, how many coats of finish would you have to put on the EVA to make it firm enough?

Ok so I want to make a leather forgrip for my 80# class rods and give it that tapered look.....you know, where the finish slowly tappers down on to the blank.
So do I sand and shape a cork forgrip and then wrap with leather to then finish it off with thread wraps to lock it down on the ends and follow that up with finish?
Thanks for your help!!

When you are glueing up your gimbal, real seat and tip what method have you found to work best. Do you just eyeball it or do you have some sort of jig that you use? I have been pulling a string down the center but fill there is a better way.
Thanks for your help!!

On my next rod I am going to try and use the leather wrap forgrip. I want it to have the tapered look as it meets the blank, Do I use a piece of cork and shape it so that it tapers into the blank then cover it with thread and finish?
Thanks for your help!!
