Tom what ever happened to the Sanford area gathering?
I am not going to be able to make the Charlette show due to my wife is due with our first child Feb. 27. I tried to tell her how important it was for me to go but she for some reason felt that I should stay hom LOL.
So I was hoping to find some other gatherings to learn more on rod building.
I am struggling with a few things.
Thanks for yo

What is the best way to do this? I have seen the pilot drill bits by Flex Coat but they ues a 1/4" tube to help guide through arbors. I am trying to drill out EVA that has a larger inside dia. than 1/4" to 1/2". Would you just use a drill bit?
Thanks for your help!!

108. Inner line rods
If weight is such a key factor in how a rod performs why do I not see more use of these rods?
As a beginner it would seem to me that this style rod would be lighter since the lack of eyes.
What's the skinny on these rods??

113. Is this right?
Tom, after I left your shop today I went home and looked at my acid wrapped rods and noticed that the line does not touch the bottom of the second eye (first from the stripper, not the bumper). Should this line be lying in the bottom of the eye. Mine falls against the side of the eye.
Thanks for your help!!

117. Forgrip taper
What is it called and how is it done when you see the forgrip taper into the blank. It looks like it is a high build up of finish that slowly tapers to the blank.

I ordered some of Decal Connections new decals and got a cloudy looking result when I applied finish to them. I used a base of finish...let it dry...applied the decal...let it dry..then applied another coat of finish.

Dan I bought the same dryer and had the same problem. I found on mine that the dryer was angled down which put the rod in a bind. So what I did was prop the front of my dryer up with one of Toms Rod Making Mags to get the angle correct. After that no more problems.

I just put one coat of finish on the blank in a small area to apply a dacal. The first coat looked like it would not take in the areas it pited.
Thanks for the help!!
