121. Re: Major uh oh....
I would think the integrity of the blank has been compromised to some extent. If only because it is no longer circular. An inner reinforcement of the damaged area would be best, but if that is not possible, then a oversleeve would also help. If you have to oversleeve, then sleeve the entire area of the cross wrap.

Look for posts by Ken Preston. He was/is investigating UV cured resins. Cork 4U, a sponsor, has a UV cure system that they have shown at the ICRBE for the last couple of years.

For the cork handle, look at They are burl, but very light and relatively easy to shape. They should hold up better than straight cork.

is it possible to get one and measure it? As you know the manufacturer line and lure weights are arbitrary.

With size 12 runners, what types of knots are you trying to pass? My understanding is that most carp fishing is with lighter line.

You might try offsetting the reel seat or installing the reel seat so that the rear is higher than the front.

One I keep forgetting.
Put the finish on and leave it alone. Especially with the faster curing urethanes. :) Have to clean up and add another coat tonight. :(

Do a spiral wrap, and contact will not be an issue. :) I have just finished a spiral casting setup an will be testing it this weekend on the Detroit River.

From the images I have been able to find, that model does use a spigot ferrule. What MAY have been marked is the straight axis. With spigot ferrules, there needs to be a gap so that over time, and the ferrules wearing, the rod sections still mate properly.

136. Re: build order
On my first tiger wrap, I wrapped the tiger, installed the grips (cork and the butt grip from the bottom) and then added trim wraps next to the grips to change up the look.

137. Re: Duties and Taxes
Andy acts as his own broker. Given the amount that you quoted, it sounds like it is mostly tax. Without a visit to the US to bring some of the costs under your personal visit exemptions. I am unsure what duties/taxes he pays as a business. His prices in Canadian dollars are very similar to Mudhole's retail prices.

Chris:
I cross over and pick up my orders in New York :) Check the FEDEX brockerage charge. It can be quite expensive. Then add 13% for HST (35.75)(Ontario) and it can add up fast. :(
Like Rolly, I use Andy where possible.

The first three guides from the reel seat are the important ones. Follow the recommendation for these. Place the rest as per static testing. Then test cast with your reel and line. You may get slightly better performance, tweaking the spacing on the first three.

146. Re: cork grip stuck
I use teflon tape when using a threaded rod for glue up. Works really well and will not transfer to the cork.

147. Re: cork grip stuck
Two options:
1) grip the threaded rod securely and unscrew the grip from the rod
2) build up a series of washers,(a cone) ending with the largest against the cork(about the same size as the cork if possible) and again securing the threaded rod, use a wrench and nut to force the grip off the threaded rod.

You don't need a lathe to turn cork. See
I did my first couple using a similar setup.

149. Re: Best of Show??
I didn't see Andy's new wrapper, but for me the new product that I was most impressed with was the vertical and horizontal cork from Cork 4 U. It will be absolutely stunning on a handle. The development for both finished in February I believe. The horizontal can be used as rings now, in my opinion, but I am waiting for the vertical to be available in blocks. It will, in my opinion, be too busy
