I was planning to use the table edge method to figure out my choker and so on. Hopefully that works out. As far as the butt guide goes, would a size 16 be good for 6lb fluoro also? Or should I stick with a size 20? Thanks again guys.

And just to make sure I got it right, i will be using their fly guides as the runners correct? Such as the cf4cg, xf4xg and their titanium frame tfx3xg?

Thanks for the quick responses guys! This will be on a rainshadow xsb822.5 blank which is medium power and fast action. Roger, if I wanted to use the KR concept with these guides, should I stick with the match guides for the transition guides since they're high framed? Or could I get away with the 10 and 5 being sv guides? Or should I just stick with using the NGC in fear of too much pressure

Hello, I'm building a 6'10" spinning rod and want to try out minima 4 guides. I will be using a size 2500 shimano reel with 6lb fluoro and will be switching over to braid with Fluoro leader at times. I'm wondering which guide and size should I use? I was thinking size 20-10-5 tm3xg match guides and then five size 4 tfx3xg runners plus the tip? Total of 8 guides plus tip guides. Would I ne

Choosing guides can be quite the headache. There's so many choices to chose and recommendations. But I think I pretty much already settled on the Fugi kr series titanium guides. Alconites for the transition guides and silicon carbide for runners and tip. Since I am new to building rods, I want to test out the guides made for this concept first before proceeding other guides although I'll be payin

It will be a spinning rod. Thanks for all the inputs, I'm gonna do a little more research on a few more guides before committing.

Roger, The reason why I'm leaning towards the fugi kr guides is because it's already "set up" for the kr concept which is what I want to build. But if the minimas will work equally as well then I would not mind trying them. What size guide would I use for stripper and the other two guides leading towards the choker guide? Thanks

Two questions. I'm planning to build an 8'6" steelhead/salmon rod using the kr concept system and was wondering, in your opinions, which guide plays the most important role as far as casting goes? Stripper, choker, runners or the tip top? Or maybe all of them? Reason why I'm asking is I can't seem to justify spending $45 bucks on just a titanium sic stripper guide lol. I want to put the mone

Randy, what size guides did you use and how many? I see that mudhole has american tackle micro guide sets and might consider purchasing one. Unless I should consider smaller micros since I'm planning to use lines that are no heavier than 4lb tests. Thank you all for the inputs!

Hey, I have a few questions to ask so any input will be greatly appreciated! First I was wondering if anyone has experiences with phenix elixir blanks? Specifically the7'6" or the 8' models. I'm planning to build on one of these. Second, I want to use some kind of micro guides on it for extra sensitivity and reducing extra weight. Is there any difference in nano micros vs micros? And w

I don't have a designated room for building where I can change the room temperature so I was wondering if I could use lights/lamps as a heat source to speed up the drying time? I have a few office type lamps that have the adjustable stands that I could use if that works. Thanks!

At work, one of the steps to testing soda is to first burst the air bubbles in our samples using an ultrasonic water bath. Now would this work for rod finishes in bursting air bubbles before applying it to the rod? There's even ultrasonic cleaners that are equipped with a heater! Anyone ever try this?

I know for sure the mix was probably not measured equally of both parts which is probably the beginning of the problem but I did however added a second coat of the same batch and my nylon wraps turned out good (or at least from what I think, me still new to this). So far the metallic wrap is still tacky-ish. I also used a lighter a few times while the rod was spinning. No cleaning was done pr

I have a metallic wrap that remains a bit tacky after 2 days of finish applied to it while my nylon wraps are nice and smooth. Is There anything special that I'm suppose to do for metallic wraps? I've applied a second coat to all my wraps again and there's the same issue with the one metallic wrap. Also, for situations such as this, do I add a second coat to eliminate tacky finishes or is th

Thanks for all the replies guys! The syringes didn't harden yet so I soaked them in 90% isopropyl alcohol. Hopefully that works? Also are my two Mixtures still usable since I dipped in the wrong syringes that had a little residue? I ordered new ones but that takes a few days since I do t have a local store. Thanks again!

Hi, so yes I'm an idiot. Without paying attention, I accidentally mixed up the two syringes in the wrong finishing parts. My question is did I ruin the finishes and the syringes by contaminating them? If I'm lucky and I didn't, what is the best way to clean the syringes? Thanks!

Hello, this will be my first time building rods ever and thought I start on something small like an ice rod before going to a full size spinning rod and spey rod. I apologize if these are repeat questions, but with ice rods having a smaller tip diameter has anyone ever used a small guide as the tip top? I'm not positive but I think thorne bro rods uses a recoil guide as their tip top, as the norm
