Hi, anyone know where or how I can get an extendable bottom handle like the one found on the Guideline LXPE Switch Rod? I like the idea! Thanks!

Hello, does anyone know where I can get some really good colored cork rings? Preferably non-rubberized cork rings. Been real disappointed with the ones I've ordered (burled I believe?). Or should I perhaps try Eva foam rings? If so where could I get some? Thanks!

Thanks guys. Thinking I'm going to purchase a few sets and try them all. I'll get some weights too. On a side note, anyone know what the actual IDs are for a size 4 and 4.5 alconites?

So my last two spinning rods has been built with microwave guides (Ti Nano and SS nano) and now I'm venturing to another spinning rod build. Although I like the microwaves for simplicity I don't want to be too content yet and may try different guides and guide systems. Thinking KR alconites? Since SiC and torzite is out of my budget.. Or has anyone tried a combination of both KR and microwaves? I

Hello, does anyone know if this part will work for any threaded barrel (16 or 17) reel seat? Or is it specifically for a Fuji reel seat? Thanks.

Hey Roger, I think part of it is the feel of a fast action rod versus a mod-fast. I'd like a rod that is light enough to absorb the fish yet has a fast recovery or crisp feeling. From my experience, mod to mod-fast rod feels a little heavier throughout and sluggish. Not sure if I'm explaining it right though! I guess fast because it's crisper and doesn't require as much lift to set the hook.

For the runners, are you guys using RSF (single foot fly guides) or RSPG (micro guides)? Thinking of using some but not sure which guides. Thanks!

Hello, Looking for a light power fast action blank in the 8-9' foot range. So far all the ones I've seen are light power with mod-fast action. The rod will be used as a bobber rod for panfish to steelhead. I was also thinking of using a fly rod blank but in what weight would be equivalent to a light power fast action spinning rod? Thanks!

Hey all. Wondering how to incorporate the back grip (cork) onto the threaded body/barrel of the reel seat like the gloomis nrx spinning rods? Pretty much hiding the threads with cork. I have an idea but stuck on how to stop the nut from screwimg off the threaded part. Any help would be great! Thanks.

Hey all. I'm using mono/copolymer line. The size 20 guide did seem a little small for the reel but i thought I had enough height. The reason for the 4000 reel is because fresh king salmons are known to spool guys out when fishing for them on the piers. But I think I might try a 3000 reel which I think should be enough as long as I have my drag set right.

Hello, When using smaller stripper guide rings with taller "heights" (sorry don't know the proper term, neck?) such as the minima match guides or KR concept guides, does it seem a little noisy when reeling in? I have a size 20 minima match guide on my 8'6" salmon/steelhead rod with a 4000 Ci4 reel and it sure makes a lot of grinding ish noise when I'm reeling in a fish or heavier

I've tried the India ink before and it took awhile to dry. It would run off when I apply CP after a couple hours of drying time. I'll try the other suggestions and really clean the nibs. Thanks again guys!

I don't have the iron feather but I do have the elixir 7'6 rod and it's an amazing rod! Makes fishing pannies super enjoyable! And an extremely light blank also.

Oh forgot to mention, I did try thinning out the paint and same result. The paint just bunched up right before the tip. I'll double check the split area of the nib and make sure it's clean. Thanks.

Hello, any tips, tricks or advice on how to use dip pens with nibs?!!? I purchase a pen with a set of nibs and the first time I used it with testors enamel paint it worked Beautifully! The paint was flowing nicely and I was able to write multiple full names on a piece of cardboard and eventually transposed it to the blank. Now that I'm ready to inscribe a second blank, darn thing won't even write

Thanks for all the tips guys. I've tried hot glue melt before and just cannot stick the guide straight enough onto a ice rod blank, 1-3mm diameter, before it hardens. It doesn't help either that I have shakey hands!

I've think I've read or seen this before but any cons of super gluing micro guides, especially ice rods which are a pita, I should be worry about? Negative reactions with epoxy or anything? I'm experimenting with an ice rod right now (getting ready to wrap) and find it a lot easier then small strips of scotch tape. Thanks.

Haven't built many rods as most guys on here but been using epoxy to glue my rings on a 1/4" threaded rod and has no problem whatsoever taking it off. All you do is stick one end on a drill and reverse out the rod while holding onto the cork handle. No wax or anything needed to prep the rod. But then again, I've only built 5-6" handles on threaded rods. Longer grips may stick more?

As far as I know, all REC Recoil guides including the fly guides are ALL flexible. They are all made of nickel titanium. The RSF is just model/style name for the guide. Just like there's Honda Civic, accord, pilot, crv. Doesn't matter what model, it's all Hondas.

Scott H., first of all welcome to the rod building world. I myself is still really new to this as well. But to answer your question, they are different style of guides but made up of the same material that makes them flexible. Go to mudhole.com and search for REC guides. For ice rods, I've been using the fly guides which are the RSF lite fly guides. The RSFX are the same guides but heavier duty/t

Roger, I use the REC fly guides on my ice rod builds but the difference is that you're not casting with the ice rods therefore line contacting the blank isn't a concern. But then again, snake guides on fly rods don't really hold the line off the blank when casting as well so I'm not sure what to think..

Hello, I'm thinking of using rec recoil guides strictly for running guides for a spinning rod. I like the idea of lightness and ability to flex for handling midwest winters. My question is, can I use the RSF Light Duty/Freshwater Single Foot Fly Guides or should I use the more traditional spinning rod guide design, RSPG Recoil Micro Guides? Any advantages and disadvantages over one or the othe
