At work, one of the steps to testing soda is to first burst the air bubbles in our samples using an ultrasonic water bath. Now would this work for rod finishes in bursting air bubbles before applying it to the rod? There's even ultrasonic cleaners that are equipped with a heater! Anyone ever try this? Richard,
How do you use a vacuum pump to insure that you have no bubbles? Be safe Re: Ultrasonic cleaner?

Roger:
I was able to get a vaccum pump and vacuum jar at a yard sale, I mix the rod finish ( Flex -coat) for 2 minutes in a plastic cup, and put the cup in the vacuum jar for 3-4 minutes, the vacuum pump removes most of the bubbles from the flex-coat. I then pour the the finish on to a flat tinfoil surface, and with a straw I blow on the finish spreading it out on the foil. The finish is now almost clear as water and bubble free, the only draw back is that the pot life is reduced to about 25-30 minutes so you have to work quickly. My rod finishes always dry clear and bubble free, If you need any additional info let me know. Rich Kline CR Re: Ultrasonic cleaner?

Roger, if you have one of the Food Savers for vacuum sealing food, it will work great for this. Re: Ultrasonic cleaner?

Richard, Randolph,
Your repsonse makes perfect sense. I do have a few vacuum systems and pumps so may have to give it a try. Be safe Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
