Hi Chris, As Don said you needed to put CP on the red. The black didn't bleed, the red simply turned really dark.if you search this site you will find posts that point to some pictures of threads side by side showing CP vs no CP. It amazing how much the color can change.

Hi All, I stripped a blank down to the graphite. Can I leave it and build on it with no clear coat? Any reason why not?

Thanks Terry. Is a wet sand or dry sand better? I used the epoxy from Riley Rods. It's very hard stuff!

Hi Gene, I am fairly new to rod building also. Built only 3 rods so far. But everything I have read and what I have done has only one coat is all you need for a light rod. But I will let the experts tell you what they do.

Hi All, To start I did do a search on sanding epoxy. Found almost what I was looking for. I just completed my first graphite grip. I noticed there are quite a few micro bubbles in the finish and a couple burrs. I need to give it a light sand before my final coat of epoxy. The epoxy has been curing now for two days. My question is should I wet sand with 3M or dry sand?

I am about to do a wet layup of a carbon grip. I don't want issues down the road when I finish the grip.

I am about to do a wet layup of a carbon grip and I only have latex gloves at the moment. I would hate for them to cause me issue when I am finishing the grip.

Hi All, Are non powdered latex gloves safe to use with epoxy? Or will these cause fisheyes? Thanks

Hi All, Has anyone tried the Spraymax 2K Clear Coat to finish a rod blank or reel seats? I am about to try it and I was wondering if anyone had any advice or experience with it? Looks to be a very interesting product. Other than the pot life of the product. Thanks

Hi Roger/Daniel, Sorry I used the wrong term, I am not using it as a finish motor but rather a wrapper. I have a BBQ motor I use now and it runs at 4 rpm. Its great as a dryer but its to slow for putting epoxy on the wraps/decals. I wanted something to run around 25rpm. Now, I hooked up a regular dimmer switch. Its runs the motor but there is a problem. When the motor is running at the low

Hi All I am in the process of converting a sewing machine motor and was wondering if you can use a light dimmer to control the speed of the Motor? Eliminate the foot pedal all together. Thanks

Hi Tom I was actually going to try and find that product today. To bad most of the can will be wasted though. What is Lumiseal and Permagloss used for mostly? Wood handle finishing? Thanks Btw I figured out how to get the magazine now. I have it delivered to a relative in Buffalo and she ships it to Canada for me! Love it!

Hi All, Anyone tried the ThreadMaster ONE from Roddancer? What is the viscosity like? Can you use it to cover an entire blank after painting? Most of what I have researched about Lumiseal or Permagloss says it will eat through my spray paint! I find the clear coats from a spray not very durable. Anyway just curious if anyone has tried it. Thanks

Hi Jon, I just started the hobby myself. Two rods down and who knows how many more to go!? I did exactly what you did a few times in the beginning. I take it your rod holders are not adjustable? If that's the case I would think Steve's advice would be the best one. One thing you will find is this site is very friendly to helping newbies out. Btw Bill I would love to take a class but there

Hi All Thank so much for the help. It worked. Roger I believe I may take your advice as it it hard to control the speed with your foot! I am only using is for my finish at the the moment. I found my finish motor (BBQ motor) to slow for finishing my wraps. I am also just starting to build a graphite grip so it will help there too. Again thanks everyone! If it hasn't already happened for

Hi All, Hope you all are having a great Holiday Season! I need help wiring a foot pedal from a vintage Sears sewing machine to the original motor. My Dad cut all the wires and delivered with the pedal with one wire coming from it, the motor with one wire coming from it and wire with the receptacle on one end. So I have three separate parts. All wires are black. No red, white.... It's a 1
