I have already paid up front. In fact I will pay for an extra 2 copies up front. It's not about the money my friend, it's about coming up with a solution!

183. Thread Question
Hi All,
I was at a sewing store today and found a really nice thread. It's a #122 SS rayon 40wt. My questions are, can you use Rayon and is 40wt to small? I was able to break the thread very easily. It wrapped nicely on my blank though. I want to use this on a casting rod.
Thanks
Chris

Hi Paul,
I believe the issue is shipping into Canada from a duty stand point? It cost to much to make it worth while for them.
Hey Tom do you get many inquiries to ship to Canada? If so is it an option to ship to one person and they could then ship throughout Canada?
Just trying to get creative here.

Any recommendations on a advanced CD for rod building? Do you offer one?

187. Rod Builder Magazine
Hi All,
Tom I know you mentioned in the past that I you cannot send the magazine to Canada. However I recall someone mentioning on a post that there was a way to get it here? Anyone know of this? I could buy the CD's but it's just not the same. I like to hold what I am reading.
Thanks
Chris

188. Dupli-Color
Hi All,
I want to paint a blank with Chrome Dupli-Color and then use the shadow spray over it to give it a black chrome effect.

As always I am extrelmely grateful to everyone who takes the time to respond!

191. Coloured Epoxy
Hi All,
I want to build a all black casting rod. But I want it to be all flat black colour including the components. Is it possible to make the finish epoxy flat? Without a glossy finish. Also looking for a flat black colour blank. 6'9", M-MH, fast action.
Am I going to have to paint a blank to find this?
Thank You

192. Coloured Blanks
Hi All,
I am about to build my second rod. I think I am hooked, plus my friends are all putting in requests now! Just finished a white MHX843 with micro guides. Fished it several times now and love it.
I wanted to look at different colours for blanks. Which vendor would have the best selection for different colours? Can a blank be painted? Is this process a difficult process to make it look

I just put a Canadian Flag deco on a white gloss MHX blank and covered it with epoxy and it looks great!

Hi Chip
Thanks for posting the pic. However I am trying to understand the picture and it doesn't look like the tubing is even wrapped around the blank? I find the micro guides really hard to hold to the blanks!

Hi Frank
I just finished my first build ever. Built a mag tapper using metallic wrap on my guides and metallic trim wraps. I also used nylon near the butt end. I will say the nylon was much easier to use. However I did complete the guides eventually. I had to rewrap several guides along the way with the metallic thread. I fished with the rod all this past week and it was awesome! Not to menti

Hi All,
About to apply my first coat of flex coat finish. What is the minimum time between coats I can have? Presume the room temp is 71. I am going on a fishing trip tomorrow and I really want to bring this rod with me!

199. Re: metallic thread
Hi Scott,
I am new to this rod building thing, but very much enjoying it, and I find metallic thread difficult to wrap! It doesn't grip the blank very well. So I have to wrap it tighter to get it to grip, then when I pull through I do get what Don was saying. But then again if you are using Snake skin inlays under your guides your clearly not a rookie like me! I am sure it will look great.

Terry I am trying to tie them at the end of my wraps holding the guides down. I didn't realize my email was hidden.

Hi All,
I am in the middle of my first build and I am having a real heck of a time with my trim bands! I am building a casting rod with Fuji micro guides using metallic thread. Can someone please point me to a video that shows an easy way to do trim bands please? I have tried to wrap them the same way you would a regular wrap but only turning 6 times. Let me tell you this has been a very frust

Hi All,
My daughter has a nail polish "pen". It has a very fine tip on it. I was thinking of writing on my blank with it. Does anyone see a problem with nail polish under epoxy finish? Does it fade fast?

Hi John,
I am in the middle of doing my first micro build also. You should be able to get the guide spacing recommended by Batson for that particular blank from their website? However with that said I had to add 1 extra guide and reposition all of them as to not nave my line touch the blank!
