Hi Everyone, Thanks for the tips. I will use the same epoxy for all my coats and the final coat with Permagloss. Once I open the perma gloss can it be re-sealed and used again?

Hi All, I did my wet layup on a graphite grip last and I used an epoxy that is marketed for use to builds surf boards. I am ready for my top coats now. I usually use the 321 from Riley Rods but I don't have enough left at the moment. May I ask what type of epoxy you guys are using for your top coats? Should I be concerned about using a different type of epoxy over the one I used for my wet

Hi All My current build has gone from bad to worse! I just pulled the tape off the rear grip and found that some epoxy had wicked under the tape! Any way to remove this? Can I sand the EVA? It's to thin to peel off! This is a disaster! On the flip side my wraps turned out really nice! Lol

Hi Victor I used a two part Epoxy from Riley Rods. I actually really like the stuff. I don't know why it smeared. I applied the epoxy literally 12 hours after! Well I will redo it coat with color preserver then apply epoxy. Any tips for getting epoxy off EVA grips? Can I sand them?

Hi All, I wrote on a rod today with Testors model paint, gold, and applied epoxy to it after 12 hours. Well disaster stuck! the epoxy smeared the paint. This was the final step in the completion of the rod that I was planning to give my Dad tomorrow for his retirement gift! Is there a set amount of time I need to wait before applying the epoxy?I thought you can apply epoxy over Testors ena

Hi Mike/Joe If your cutting a hole the size of the butt diameter how does it make contact at the tip? The method sounds doable but o am not seeing the hole size properly I guess? In fact it wouldn't really contact the blank until the butt end?

Hi Chris I tried to find the right answer on this forum and others. Let me tell you that there is no straight answer. So many guys are using different techniques it can be very confusing and frustrating. A lot of people say permagloss is the way to go. But with that you will, find many techniques on how to apply it because it cures so quickly. I just bought a bottle. I want to try it but I have

Hi Sergiy, I actually want it to appear more black than gold. After the under wrap you used CP. May I ask why? I was under the impression this is where the first coat of epoxy was applied? Possibly even two coats for added depth?

Hi Tom, I have a couple reels around the house but they don't seem to have the "upswing spool" like the newer reels do? Hi Jim, Thanks for the info. I requested a catalogue so I will wait until I get it. Then try the method you suggested. I don't really think my Dad is going to notice any performance hit.

Hi All, I am building a MHX SJ842-2 spinning rod for my Dad as a gift. I am using Fuji BKLAG-20H, 10H 5.5H then BKTAG-4.5J the rest of the way. This is my first spinning build. I have researched guide placement on this site as well as Anglers Resource. My question is how do you determine the choke point of the rod if you don't know exactly what reel will be used on the rod. I mean all I know a

Hi Jimmy I have always wondered what the durability of the poly is. Have you used it on a rod that you have used in a boat? I ask because I think fly rods don't see the same type of abuse that let's say a bass casting rod might. I know the Spraymax that Tom refers works but it is expensive if you are only shooting one rod. If you can plan to do multiple rods it becomes more cost effective.

Well I refused the order. Not sure what's going to happen now! FedEx has it and my visa has already been charged. I will have to call them. Maybe my first blank prefer was just under 100 because I didn't have to pay anything. Intact they left it at my front door. Chris you say use Andy? He must pay the duties and therefore pass that on in the component cost. Anyway I will look into it. No
