I also use the Fuji LOGR backstop lock nut. I find myself building most spin rods uplocking. I don't like foregrips. For instance with a size 16 Fuji TVS seat, standard metal hood, LOGR nut. I then trim excess threads and install it uplocking. A size 17WCS check is used to terminate the seat where the foregrip would have been. Nice compact package. Whole deal measures a pinch over 4.5". Put your reel in the seat in both directions and bring it down over the blank to where you might fish with it, see which you like best. There's no wrong way. Research the type hood and nut you like as that might limit your choice of direction.

1235. Re: Citri Strip
Soaking it might help, but I'd try to keep the stripper from getting on the inside of the blank where it might be hard to remove. A coat on the outside and the resulting exposure to air might help the stripper to work. (instead of soaking) I'm a little leery of soaking as in how much soaking is enough, but not too much. I'll be in touch. Right now these women are driving me nuts! I can hardly t

If I'm removing paint I coat the blank with Citri-strip and hang it overnight to at least soften the paint . I then scrape it off under running water with a an old credit card or similar (plastic picnic knives work) then if I'm lucky, I can proceed to a scotchbrite pad to get the rest. Often i have to use more than one application. Can't see scraping a new blank with a razor blade as my first r

Your change of finish will likely be the solution to your problem. Sorry for the double tap.

Bill, google Jim Trelikes dragonscale wrap. It looks as though you wrapped thread over top of a fish net on the blank. Most use metallic thread as the top wrap. And black metallic is said not to work. Don't know, never tried it. The fat guy in the red suit gets all the facetime, but it's we toymakers who make the whole thing fly! Have a good one.

I have only done them with drywall tape under, (sorry Jim). Never used CP, never have any issues. I keep the temp at about 85f while turning and watch it for a while. If I should see any bubbles beginning to form (I usually don't) I disperse them by blowing thru a straw across the wrap. I always blow thru the straw across my mixed finish in the cup before starting to coat. This gets rid of a lot

Michael, I have a detector similar to yours but mine seems to go off too much . Is there an adjustment for that? I think a search on the original topic should turn up enough info to keep one reading well into the new year. (some of that info would set it off as well) lol

Ben, I was thinking if this might actually work (which I have no intention of finding out lol) beeswax might be a better option.

I'd be happy if vendors would show if an item's not in stock when I add it to my cart.

Excellent post once again David. No question braid casts farther, but that's not always the main concern. If you ever try fishing a Zara Spook with braid you'll soon find out what it's not good for.

I would think common sense would tell you that 20lb. braid would cast better than 20lb. mono with equal lure weight.

I also am a proponent of locking wraps, however lately I find myself wondering would I rather have a guide pull out, or take a chance of the tip breaking if it doesn't. Say on a blank with a 4.5 tip or smaller.
