I should think common household epoxy ( Loctite - Devcon) would do it. I wouldn't be brave enough to try it with 5 minute though. 30 min. would be better and turn it every 2-3 min. till it sets up. Keep it in a warm place overnight.

Which to me begs the question: why would the most highly visible component supplier provide "kits" for the most highly touted guide system (KR) containing the wrong sizes? Doesn't seem it would take much of an effort to correct this oversight and get everybody on the same page. Before anyone jumps on me regarding complaining about a board sponsor, I'm just providing helpful criticism.

U-40 brush cleaner is recommended to be used for cleaning blanks prior to building. It's in the product description on the web site with the epoxies.

Well Mark and Larry, you saved me. About 2 weeks ago I found a roll of 3M painter tape my son got to do trim work on his truck and put it in with my rodbuilding stuff. Just looked at it and sure enough 2093. Luckily, (I hope) I laid it inside my regular roll of masking tape but not contacting it on a sheet of paper. I'm hoping this contamination does not spread too easily. If it' s on the tape ad

If you use Citri-Strip paint remover as your 1st step you'll save your self a lot of sanding time . You may be able to get all the old finish off with a scotchbrite pad. Less chance of blank damage. Paint it on, hang it up, and leave it over night. It won't hurt the blank. You may have to repeat the process but it's well worth it.

I don't paint blanks, but it seems to me I've read about it on the forum a few times, look around a little, you should be able to turn something up.

I didn't say they were smart or polite! My comment was in regard to the conditions. Then again If I lived on a lake, I wouldn't want them around either!

If cutting 1 " off an 11' blank changes it noticeably this will be my last post.

I'd cut 2.5" and try it. You can cut it twice as easily as once. A blank's a blank when it comes to cutting. Some would say never cut from the tip, that's bull if you can make it do what you want.

I would also lightly chamfer the inside edge of the newly cut ferrule with very fine (600- 800 grit paper) to help keep from scratching the male section. I'd likely wrap and finish the ferrule before I cut it.

U-40 cork seal works great. Follow the instructions. It makes the cork easier to clean up when dirt accumulates over time. Follow the instructions.

I would dip the end of the blank in Permagloss past the cracks about 3 times with a couple hours between applications, It should suck into the cracks and be as strong as anything you could hope for at this point. Once you have the tip on wrap over the affected area.

If you cut it, wrap the ferrule.

Sorry Glenn, never saw the article, my experience has always been that it dries a little too fast for my liking. Back to the original topic: I've always put Cork Seal on cork with great results.

Sorry off topic but, Glenn did you have any luck with issues you had getting Permagloss to dry?

If tip ring size has to match runner ring size I'm afraid I've built an awful lot of rods incorrectly.
