The Flexcoat High Build Resin that I have been using is turning a cloudy white and getting thick. I searched the forum but nothing came up. I have not left the top off or accidentally got hardner mixed in it so what could be wrong. Does this stuff have a shelf life? Re: Flexcoat High Build Resin Turning Cloudy White

No shelf life. That is just what some finish resins do. Warm the bottle up in the sun or bowl of hot water and it will take care of itself.
If you are going to mix and apply the epoxy right away, I would suggest letting it come back to a room temperature or up to 70 degrees before mixing it. Make sure the cloudiness is gone as well. Re: Flexcoat High Build Resin Turning Cloudy White

Kerry,
Leave the top off the bottle and put it in your microwave. Try warming the bottle with the microwave - in 5 second increments. Normally, it does not take much in the microwave to take care of the issue. Be safe Re: Flexcoat High Build Resin Turning Cloudy White

The part A resin can crystalize like honey. If you melt the crystals the finish will be good as new. You can put the bottle in a hot water bath, under a heat lamp, or (as Roger said) use the microwave in short bursts, though we use a microwave that we don't use for food anymore. Be sure that all the crystals are melted before mixing with part B. Also, it is a good idea to warm both part A & B prior to mixing to about 90ºF. This will release bubbles and make the finish easier to mix. Flex Coat Company Professional Rod Building Supplies www.flexcoat.com Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
