Hello Folks ... I've been looking for a 6'9" 3 or 4 piece fast action fly rod blank ... I have yet to be successful so I was wondering two things: Does anyone have such a blank in their inventory and would be willing to part with it for a reasonable price? And two, does anyone know of a spinning rod blank that I could be used as a fly rod blank that would fit the requirements. Cordially, J

Hello, I'd like to re-wrap a Fenwick Generation I HMG Graphite fly rod ... The wraps are green with white tipping...the model is the Fenwick HMG 9010 (9-10 weight) ... the blank color is charcoal with a tip over fiberglass ferrule where the entire ferrule is wrapped in green with stripper guide poking out... I was hoping someone would know the thread color ... NCP or regular ... presumably this i

Having never built a spinning rod, but several fly rods...I'm wondering what "rule of thumb" is used when determining the butt grip length and the fore grip length...
Thanks in advance,
John

Thank you gentlemen...
I'll be going to the ISE in Sacramento, CA...not sure whether Mr. Loomis will be there, but I'll keep your suggestion in mind, Ellis...
The reason for "wanting to know" stems from a recent acquisition of blanks...the individual claims up and down that these blanks are Fishers...they're 10foot...two piece...seem very pleasant to the wiggle...maybe 5-6 wt...so

Can anyone tell me whether Fisher, at any time, manufactured tip over butt graphite blanks? The Fisher graphite blanks that I have seen and built up usually have a spigot ferrule.
Or perhaps, you can point me in the right direction.
Thanks in Advance,
John

Thanks Robbie...I'm always open to trying something new...been working with Pearsall's and sometimes...Kinkame...using spar cut with Windsor Newton Sansodor...I really like the look of transparent wraps on the guides and some other color (or Jasper) on the ferrules...I'll have to order the #212...the PG and Xylene...
(When I was a kid, I used to use my sister's clear nail polish...lol...)

Does anyone have a method that they'd like share for graphite or glass blanks? I've had some success with bamboo and using yellow or white silk, but when it comes to a green, black or charcoal colored blank...not the same effect...any suggestions?
Thanks,
John

Hello...
I'd like to get a recommendation on a 6' to 6'6" 0-1-2 wt fiberglass blank... preferably one piece (and I wouldn't have a problem cutting a larger blank down)...
Cutting down a two piece may also be an option... or...a UL spinning blank?...
Thank You,
John

Could anyone articulate the technical/colloquial difference between Fly Rod and Spinning Rod Tapers for a trout rod? Or, in other words, what is the quantitative/empirical difference between an ultra light spinning (or light spinning rod) blank versus a 3-5 weight flyrod blank?
I've read where someone would take a fly rod blank and turn it into a spinning rod...and perhaps vice versa...or wha

18. Cork Rings
I was hoping to get some instruction and/or advice on turning my own cork handles.
I'm interested in the following:
• The basic most economic setup as well as advanced setups or tools
• Basic knowledge of cork grades
• Working with rubberized cork
• Type or grade of sandpaper to use or some other implement
• Pitfalls or things to stay away from
• Advice on adhesives
• C

Sam and George...thanks for some great advice...I think building a new detachable grip might get me the best of both worlds...I tend to believe the simple solution is usually the most palatable...now...to find a female ferrule and some bamboo to build the handle...this is the whole fun of this new hobby of mine...
And George...thanks for the tips on fixing the cane when it splits...I actually

20. South Bend 59
I've acquired a South Bend 59...9ft...3 piece...has anyone ever taken a rod like this, in marginal shape, and rebuilt to to a 7.5 foot trout rod? Is this well with the realm of "workable"? What are the pitfalls, and the advantages? What should one be aware of?
Thanks in advance, John
