Fisher Graphite Blanks

Can anyone tell me whether Fisher, at any time, manufactured tip over butt graphite blanks? The Fisher graphite blanks that I have seen and built up usually have a spigot ferrule.

Or perhaps, you can point me in the right direction.

Thanks in Advance,

John

All the Fisher rods/blanks I've seen are spigot ferruled including the heavy saltwater models.

Just curious, is Fisher the same company that makes those Fisher toys? Lol! just wondering.

To the best of my knowledge, J.K. Fisher never got around to designing or using tip-over-butt ferrules. Although I seem to recall that they were in the process of doing so, they failed shortly before that came to pass.

The last blank catalog that I got from Fisher was sent in 1983. In that catalog Fisher states that they use two types of ferrule systems: one the external sleeve ferrule and two the internal spigot system. Around that time Fenwick came out with their tip over butt ferrule system which became the norm. Shortly after that Loomis, Inc. also came out with their system. Fisher had a great product but in opinion their marketing was terrible. And their blanks were expensive. I could call Gary Loomis and speak to him directly and buy a popping rod for $30 where as a fFisher would cost me $80. By the way, if you are going to the Expo, you've got to meet and spend a few minutes with Gary Loomis. He is a ball of fire. I had the opportunity to work a show one year when he came to Houston and it was a riot. He is a true salesman for our hobby or craft.

Thank you gentlemen...

I'll be going to the ISE in Sacramento, CA...not sure whether Mr. Loomis will be there, but I'll keep your suggestion in mind, Ellis...

The reason for "wanting to know" stems from a recent acquisition of blanks...the individual claims up and down that these blanks are Fishers...they're 10foot...two piece...seem very pleasant to the wiggle...maybe 5-6 wt...so I'll try my hand at "common cents" and see what happens...

I didn't really care whether they were Fishers or not...but I did like the blank action for a 10 foot fly rod...however, I will say that the "blank finish" very much resembles the Fishers that I've handled and built out...

Life is good...

John
