Does anyone have a method that they'd like share for graphite or glass blanks? I've had some success with bamboo and using yellow or white silk, but when it comes to a green, black or charcoal colored blank...not the same effect...any suggestions?
Thanks, John Rodeo, CA Re: transparent or invisible wraps

PermaGloss bound wraps (no thread - article in RodMaker) or white silk with thinned varnish or PG.

Test on butt section first, of course. If you thin the PG you'll have to use Xylene.

John, I have found that the FishHawk #212 silk works best for transparent wraps. It is a natural colored silk. The thinned varnish as Tom describes is an important step. It will work well on bamboo or a nice graphite blank. Re: transparent or invisible wraps

Thanks Robbie...I'm always open to trying something new...been working with Pearsall's and sometimes...Kinkame...using spar cut with Windsor Newton Sansodor...I really like the look of transparent wraps on the guides and some other color (or Jasper) on the ferrules...I'll have to order the #212...the PG and Xylene...
(When I was a kid, I used to use my sister's clear nail polish...lol...) John Re: transparent or invisible wraps

Naples or Gossamer White Silk, traditional two-part epoxy. Two coats ... first pass cut with DNA, second normal mix. No problems, plenty of strength, no special materials. Whatever you do ... TEST FIRST. Everyone methods are different and, therefore, the results. Re: transparent or invisible wraps

Why not a 6-8lb test mono or trying the "clear" braided line that came out on the market? Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
