dennis stone , Razing Kane (john niemann), tim zietak(sp?) all make good blanks in US. i've bought from dennis stone and Razing Kane with happy results. reasonable cost, timely delivery as well. they can make about whatever you want.
i have always gotten the blanks with ferrules fitted already.
john niemann prefers to make 2 piece rods with 1 tip.

i like wrapping by hand on my power wrapper. then i put finish on and let it go to town. i never did get comfortable with the speed control using power wrapper. disconnect drive belt and you're good to go. it is a great piece of equipment.

i goofed mixing epoxy rod finish on a dropshot rod. i noticed it had not set up firm and set it aside(standing up) in a closet. later i noticed the finish had morphed into a version of what a finish would look like if Van Gogh/Picasso had collaborated on a rod. funny to see now.

Schneiders Rod Shop actually lists ferrule sets that may be what you need on their hot specials page. he has listed a 25/64 and a 24/25 /64 ferrule set. hope that helps.

in the 70's i used gudebrod's brown crayon sized stick, as well as a round stick of tannish/amber(color me colorblind) adhesive, about 3/4" in diameter. from my memory the larger adhesive broke down, into powder and chunks. i preferred the gudebrod. i cannot recall the maker, either.

there's good news and bad news. good news is you can make a great rod. bad news is maybe not by Christmas unless you get some intervention and assistance.
i'll take a shot at it. for the rod you must have: guides(snakes usually with a striiper guide), a tip top,a reel seat and a handle(usually cork). sizing/sizes are critical, the more accurate the better, for you and the rod.

Daiwa is my favorite for baitcasters. i also have a scorpion DC reel that is amazing. DC technology is a big selling point to me. spinning reel favorites for 40+ years have been the zebco cardinal reels; not a single failure in 40 years says a lot. if it ain't broke, don't "fix" it.
but i have to say looks wise the new spinning daiwa and shimano reels are sure pretty and probably

14. Re: Firmest EVA
Janns netcraft has a couple of very firm eva components, a 3" middle grip and a 2 1/4" butt/fore grip i've been happy with. i've gotten some from mudhole as well that are excellent.

my best memories of fishing fiberglass spinning rods were with a Garcia 5 star rod, model 2133a spinning rod. i have four(one unused, in mint condition) but just prefer the sensitivity of a graphite rod. gl3's, batson's, bass pro shops' graphite spinning/casting rods are far better, in my view,
in sensitivity. i, too, am curious about the new/old comparison. we surely used some clubs

problems i have made for myself in haste include misspaced or misaligned guides/reel seats(fly rod). threads wrapped over themselves/gapped. are the two biggies for me. poorly measured epoxy finish happened only once but it really messed my rod up. enjoy your creation!

i surely wish i'd had a leash on my rod and new Shimano DC150 reel b4 i let it get dragged overboard. thankfully i did get it fished out. a simple leash would have alleviated that.

cut your losses. send it back. repairing a broken reel is still a broken reel with patchwork. more fish in the sea.

21. Re: Blunders
just a couple of several: most recent - putting varnish on wrap on an expensive bamboo fly rod blank. too much, too soon. gotta remove and redo slower. another one was completely failing to align fly reel seat parts at all. had to get a heat gun to fix that one.

I mostly build only for myself.Performance is paramount to me. i like a bit more show on my fly rods, mainly a nice reel seat, maybe silk threads. i've done very few butt wraps. i do appreciate fine details on rods but i'm not going to spend 3 more hours i don't have to on a rod. again, though, i don't build for others.

i've cobbled together some 1" (sprayed with release agent/waxed) pvc , 1/4" steel rods(also sprayed with release agent/waxed) and some sort of centering spacer to pour the two part foam cores. turns out well. just be forewarned to mix less than you think you will use. it really expands!!!! it is very thin at first as well. bottom of tubes have to be plugged. remember release agent.

i'll add to the chant of "Buy new! Buy new!" i used old CP one time. i now have a great spinning rod with creamy dark blue wraps. i believe i must have gotten CP that had deteriorated, maybe due to freezing temps. ruined my wraps but not right off the bat. they gradually turned creamy.

ceramics can indeed get grooved. ask muskie fishermen. i replaced a rod's worth years ago for a friend. grooved terribly from cortland line.
