Hey guys so I need some help. I am trying to find out the recommended guide spacing for a 10ft medium St Croix Avid surf built casting style with microwave carp guides. I do not have a reel that is the size the customer will be using so I cannot static test. If you can at least give me an idea of where to place the stripper guide I would greatly appreciate it

I was thinking I would just use a tape arbor, I was mainly worried about going to small or to large in regards to how it looks. The customer wants to feel it out in person before I epoxy the seat to know exactly where they want it. It is the 10ft Medium St. Croix Avid blank. The tip is 7.0 and the butt is .73.

Hey guys so I am building a 10 ft surf rod. What is a good standard size reel seat to use on a casting rod this size if I am unsure of the reel that will be used?

Hey guys what are some of the best ways you have found to remove finish from the blank once it has dried? Like when doing a guide replacement. Thanks!

Wait sorry that is what I was wanting to do, but does the carbon tube cover thread on to the reel seat? I thought I would

Hey guys so I am going to be building my a new texas rig rod soon. I am deciding between a SCV blank or a Point Blank blank. I am pretty much going to choose based on the warranty. Do they both have limited lifetime warranties, or how long are the warranties the two companies offer? thanks!

Hey guys so I wanted to get yalls opinion on the Point Blank blanks. How sensitive are they? How durable are they? Normal things like that. Thanks!

Haha I see what you are saying, but he is not targeting fish that large, it is just a possibility that it will happen so he wants one that can hold up to it. I understand what you are saying about drag, though so I guess that doesnt matter so much for him. I know he is targeting flounder mainly, and I believe it is in his own boat.
He told me also that he wants it to stay between 6'6 and 7ft l

Hey guys so I have a person wanting me to build them a rod, but it is a saltwater build and I am not familiar with much in saltwater. He mainly tries to catch flounder, but being saltwater he has the chance to hook into a 100lb + fish. So it has to be sturdy of course. He usually fishes a 2oz weight with 2 hooks above it. He also said he sometimes fishes a sting silver, but I am not sure what tha

Hey guys let me start by saying I am in no way trying to bad mouth a company or product. I love microwaves for my spinning rods, I dont build one without them. However, I have always been confused as to how they are useful for a casting rod. To me, when the line comes from a baitcaster it is a pretty straight shot to the first guide unlike a spinning rod. I just don't see why or how it would be

Hey guys so I was wondering if this in a size 16 will fit the sleeve of a size 16 hidden thread sleeve style Fuji TVS?
Also, I am assuming you are just supposed to ream out the carbon fiber insert that goes into the reel seat?
thanks so much!

Hey guys so I want to try out the Fuji TVS grips on a new spinning rod. I am not sure though what size seat I should buy or what handles I should look into. I am likely getting it from Mudhole. So I want the reel seat to sit flush with the edges of the rear grip. It will be a split grip rod, and I would like the rear grip itself to be very short as I most often hold the rod by the reel seat. I al

I have to say that I do not like it at all. Trying to find a blank now seems much more cumbersome. I would love to have the old grid style layout for blanks back. Finding components took my longer now than it used to, but I suppose that is from just not being accustomed to the new style. I like that it is quicker now, but so far has been a headache navigating for me. I appreciate that the company

Thanks guys, so then the 7/8oz plug is what I will be using. I do not do this type of fishing alot, so I was not sure what the optimal length is. Right now I use a 7ft medium spinning rod. The plug is cast underhand off of the pier and then twitched back to the pier. Line is 12-15lb mono with a 30lb leader to help avoid bite offs.

Hey guys so I am looking for the right blank for throwing a Gotchya Plug off a pier. I want a 2 piece one. I plan to use MIcrowave Guides, but other than that, I am not sure really what to look into, to work best for this application. I do not know the exact weight of the plug, but it will be used for the medium size if that makes since, not the very small plug. The most commonly used one from wh

This rod is going to be a flipping stick. I will be fishing around a lot of wood and rocks, so I will be using fluorocarbon rather than mono or braid. I may end up using braid at some point, but it will be fc at first.

The rod has no weight hanging from the tip when it is balanced.
Thanks Mike, so then with the ratio of weight to stiffness, I take it that is the finished build correct? So ideally I should get the rod balanced by where I put the reel seat without making the rear grip to big, and add as little or no weight as possible. You do not think it hurts anything though to add that extra weight in the

Hey guys so I have been doing some reading, and I need some help understanding this. So far most of my builds I have been balancing the rod. I do this by leaving the butt grip off the rod until everything else has been done. The very last thing I do is take a bolt and thread some nuts onto it. I add or remove the nuts until the rod is balanced right at the end of the reel seat on the side closest

Hey guys so I have always built my rods trying to use the least amount of finish and thread possible to keep the blank as sensitive as possible. However, I would like to try a diamond wrap on a rod simply because I have never done one before. What I am thinking though is, if I put the diamond wrap in the split grip, between the butt and rear grip section of the rod, should that hurt the sensitivi
