Hey guys so I am interested in making a spiral wrap rod. I have tried googling, but my issue is that there are a lot of different types of wraps, and some have different names for the same one. So if I am mainly making rods at the moment for freshwater bass fishing, what would you say are the main wraps I need to research and learn more about?
Also how should one go about deciding if I should

Hey guys so I was just on mudhole (feel like I live on that website the last few days haha) and I was looking at guides. Anyways I was wondering what the letters in all the different guide names stand for? For example BKWAG Double-Foot Spinning Guides or CLNAG Casting Guides. It maybe simple and I am missing something but any help would be appreciated! Thanks!

Hey guys one more question. I am leaning towards the SJ842. My question is should I get the normal one or the high modulus blank? My issue is if I get the blank in and do not like it for cranking then I want to make it into a shakey head rod. I read somewhere earlier on this forum people were saying to not use the high modulus blanks for moving techniques, but to save them for bottom contact bait

Thanks guys for all the different advice! It looks like I still have a lot of reading and all to do before making my mind up on the right blank for me. Haha Gabe you maybe right, I probably will end up just making both! Im actually in North Carolina, but I still may give you a call eventually if you dont mind if I do decide to go with one of those blanks. Thanks again everyone!

Hey guys so I am wanting to start planning out a crankbait build. It will be used for square bills mainly, but at times I will also use round bills that go 5-8ft deep. The cranks will for the most part be 1/4oz-1/2oz. So I think I am looking at three blanks, but if you have any other suggestions that you think I would be better off with I would be glad to hear them! The three blanks I am looking

I didnt think to ask earlier when I first read your post, but Im assuming you let the knot pass through at least the tip guide when reeling in your bait as well as casting it.

Hey guys so I want to build a casting rod that I will use for texas rigging. I do my texas rigging with 20-30lb braid with a 14lb mono leader connected by a J knot. Anyways I have had problems with store bought rods that have microguides because the knot knocked the inserts out. Anyways, I would like to use the smallest guides possible for this without being in danger of damaging my guides. What

Hey guys I was wondering what yall use to clean excess epoxy off of your rod blanks? I have read some people saying to use acetone and others saying you should stay away from it. So anyways I just would like to know what you think the best thing to use for cleaning rod blanks? Thanks!

Thanks for the replies guys! I thought about asking MudHole to check my sizing, but I was wondering how they do that without knowing exactly where I will want to put the grips, reel seat, and what not. I mean I could tell them where I want those things to go, but I felt like that would be asking a lot of them.

Thanks for all the advice! I have been all through their website in the last few days it feels like haha. I agree with yall that I did not want to get a rod kit, and I have set up a list that I am really excited to finally order. My first rod is going to be on a MHX 7 mh f blank. I think I am still going to try the SK2 reel seat just because since I saw them on a St Croix LE I really liked the l

Hey guys so I am planning on getting a set up for rod building within the next week. I was planning on getting this one from mudhole:
Will that be a good set up for a beginner? I know eventually I will want to upgrade, but for now will that all be good enough?
Secondly, I have seen a lot of blanks called Mag Bass and Spin Jig. What exactly does that mean?
Finally, what do you think abo
